This week marks significant anniversaries of two events in Cubs' history (one good, one bad). Wednesday marks the 10-year anniversary of the death of Jack Brickhouse (I still find it somewhat ironic that the two biggest giants in Cubs' broadcasting history both died the same year). And on a more positive note, Friday marks the 20-year anniversary of.....Let There Be Light!

I thought you said there was one good? I don't see any.
You mean you'd rather see the Cubs sweltering in the heat of the August sun and burning out like in 1969?

Did they burn out in the 1984 sun?

1984 was the coolest Summer on record to that point.

So cool in fact, that they managed to finish the final three months with records of 18-10, 20-10, and 16-11.

This after the first three months were 12-8, 15-12, 15-14.

Cool or ortherwise, they did better in the second half, by a wide margain.

You guys want to feel old? Wrigley had lights before I was born.

I was in first grade when you were born. That's bad enough.

so people are still arguing that lights in wrigley is a bad thing?

Just wanted to make sure this is clear, as it may have been muddied by posts that came after it. My initial reaction was tounge in cheek, I enjoy night games very much. In moderation, they seem special, an event of sorts.
