Okay, I am currently visiting some relatives in Chicago right now. I live in North Dakota, so I hardly ever get to see any baseball games. Tonight, my aunt was able to get some tickets to the Sox game tonight. I'm a Cubs fan, but I'm also a baseball fan, and since I hardly ever get to go to any games, I was excited to go.

Our seats were really good. We were in the left field seats, about ten rows back. The White Sox bullpen was one row down and an aisle over, really close. Now, I was wearing my Cubs hat just for the hell of it (I'm not afraid of getting beat of by rabid sox fans). Around the 2nd inning, I was eating a hot dog, when I noticed that the White Sox bullpen coach was motioning for me to come over. I go over there, and this conversation (along these lines) occurs:

Coach: "I'm glad you decided to come watch a real baseball game. Those other guys are AAA or AA."

Me: "Well, we're 23 games over 500"

C: "Yeah, in AAA."

M: "I was at the game yesterday. They hit a grand slam."

C: *Something I can't remember*

M: "We swept you guys this year."

C: "Yeah, we were drunk."

C: "There's a reason the AL has won the all star game 12 (?) years in a row."

After this, he tossed me a baseball, and we both laughed, and I went to go sit back down. At the end of the game, Octavio Dotel was signing autographs, and I got one (I took my cubs hat off obviously).

Overall, this experience was better than the game. I got to talk trash with the Sox bullpen coach, and I got a free ball, my first one ever at a game. I'll certainly remember tonight for a while.

I love how they keep making fun of the NL.I go through this all the time with sox fan friends.Yes the NL west is a joke but did they forget they got beat in a series by the Rockies?? I didn't hear anyone say crap when the Bears went to the Super Bowl and they played in that sorryass division at the time..Everyone says our league and division is a joke..Sox cant even beat the sorryass Royals and they have the audacity to keep whining..typical..

How can our division be a joke when two of the best teams in baseball occupy it, as well as an overachieving Cardinals team.

At this point, with CC and Harden going from weaker AL teams to strong NL teams, the NL has to be the superior league IMO. The fact that we lost the all star game was an upset (granted, part of that is because bad AL players were voted in by the fans)...

I'm pretty sure he was joking, to a certain extent.

Yea, I wasn't really responding to that part so much as the other posters in this thread...

Cool story

Yeah, I was thinking about that the other day. Since the off-season, the AL has lost Santana, Haren, Harden, and Sabathia to the NL. You would think that levels out the competition out between the two leagues.

That is a neat story.

I've only ever gotten a ball at a Spring Training game. A friend caught Manny's HR at Busch on Thursday afternoon. I was sitting in another section though.
