I know I am going to take some flak for this, but I want an outside opinion. I am sick of the Yankee and Red Sox HOMERS trying to argue this out. I know a lot of you guys follow the numbers closely. I want to see what outside people think. So, If both were available to the Cubs without having to give anything up, who would you choose and why?

I would go with Buchholz right now, simply b/c he has showed the ability to handle more of a workload than Chamberlain.

Chamberlain hasn't pitched more than 120IP since early on in college.

Chamberlain has the better FB

Buchholz has the better change.

Chamberlain has the better slider

Chamberlain has had health/weight problems.

Both are great prospects.

I also agree that at this point they have both shown good upside and are about equal. I am just so sick of hearing the homers on each side talking about how much better their prospect is. I was really kind of hoping that Meph or someone would give me some sort of analysis. I know there are guys on here that scour Minor league number and could give me some sort of unbiased analysis.

Clay Buccholz...better health. Ping, Joba's never thrown 120 IP...his career high was 119 innings as a sophomore.

I think Clay's combination of curve + change are better than Joba's out pitches (curve + slider). Obviously Joba has the better FB. Joba also wins the cooler name battle.

It's hard to say until we see if Joba can start. Obviously, if they both hit their ceilings (or come close to it), but Joba stays in the 'pen and Buchholz is a starter, then Buchholz wins.

Right now, I'd say Buchholz. They both started in the minors (albeit just 15 times for Joba), and Buchholz had better results while pitching more.

buchholz.. he's more of a known quantity because he's thrown almost 300 innings in the minors; joba came through the minors with less than 100 ip. plus joba is more of an injury risk, and he's fat.

Joba? More like Jabba

Kind of a worthless post; aren't they pronounced the same?

The reference was to Jabba the Hut from the Star Wars movies.

Whats Star Wars?

I got the reference. Since they're both pronounced the same, I assumed this coincidence was obvious to everyone and didn't warrant a post.

I don't care who you take, I am fine with either. Just wanted the non-biased look. Yankees fans are as adamant as Sox fans. I thought you and Raisin might have better reasons than what team he plays for.

Boy, do I feel silly now. Thanks for the lesson.
