Braves seem like a team that could use some Jacque Jones.

Jacque + money + how many minor league arms (or ML relievers) would net us something worthwhile?

Satalmachia (sp) for Jacque? I really don't know a bunch on him but I remember everyone here always wanting to trade for him since Mccann is blocking him.

I highly doubt they trade Salty for the likes of the Jock. They could get someone of much higher value for him.

Salty's value to the Braves is severely diminished if he has to change positions. It doesn't mean he'll cost less to acquire, but it does mean he'll be more likely to be dealt.

The catchers in our org suck. Let's hope the Cubs are all over Salty.

If the Braves deal Salty to the Cubs, they will want one of Veal, Gallagher, or Marmol.

I was just gonna say that. I can't see them taking any less valuable of a player. We might as well hold onto our talent and hope Fox can put it together behind the plate and/or we draft Wieters.

Furthermore, while it may seem that the Braves need to trade Salty, he's still young and they could keep him at AA all this year and AAA all next. They might eventually trade him, but they aren't at a point where they have to trade him, at least not right now.

Jones + Veal might be enough to get it done.

Who is worth more to us, Veal or Marmol?

I could care less about Veal, Gallagher, and Marmol at this point. Not one of those players has a ceiling above a #2 starter. Veal and Marmol are a long way from their ceilings and Gallagher profiles as a #3 at best. Let's not fall too in love with our prospects.

Saltalamacchia is a hitting machine.

I think Atlanta would laugh us off the phone if we offered Jones+Gallagher for Saltamacchia. I doubt Jones+Veal gets it done too, but I'd take either deal.

Are we all talking about the same Saltalamacchia that is Pie's age and hit .230 in AA last year? The same one that has put up only one .800+ OPS in his minor league career?

Don't get me wrong, his high A year was great, but his stock has dropped considerably.

Jones + cash would be enough, IMO

It is still very early, but this year he's hitting .329/.424/.658 with 6 homers and a pretty good 16/12 K/BB ratio.

Is the Braves OF overloaded? I hadn't noticed.

I hadn't either. ESPN's depth chart has Langerhans/Jones/Francoeur, with Diaz backing up both corners and Hanz backing up in LF. They just called up a 28 year old with a pretty long history of not doing a whole lot in the minors (772 OPS) or majors (600 OPS). Langerhans wasn't hitting at all this year and hasn't done anything in his career, so it seems to me like they just gave up on him, as opposed to wanting to clear space.
