This is going to be the most nervous I've ever been watching a game. Even more than games 6 and 7 just because my Cubbie thirst has grown tremendously since 03.

 

Nah. 1984 game 5. I was a wreck.

 

I was in college, watching in my apartment, and when the grounder went through Durham's legs, I walk over tothe kitchen, picked up a chair and repeatedly smashed it against the wall until it was a pile of toothpicks. Never said a word, and nor did my roomate.

 

I remember that Sunday afternoon, how in the hell did San Diego, a team with four less wins than the Cubs get home field advantage? - that 2-3 format was a load of crap.

 

I will forever loathe Gary F. Templeton and his soap-dropping hat waving crap and his comments when they were down 2 that San Diego was in it because "They are still the Cubs."

 

Well, he was right. No?

I was so furious when I went to bed last night. To be honest, at this exact moment I don't give a flying soapdrop about this team. Give me till about noon or 1pm and I'll be back to my over-anxious self.

 

And yes, this is a must-win. How can anyone think it's not? If we lose today then we have to win three in a row, the final of which coming against Webb.

 

Just beat the crap out of davis, please.

I think tonight you'll see:

Theriot is 4/6 against Davis, and Lou doesn't like using hitters with his lack of power in anything but the 2 or 8 spot. Since Jones is going in the 8 spot automatically, that means Theriot will bat 2nd.

 

Kendall might start, but I see Soto starting against the left-hander like normal and Kendall getting the start in game 3.

 

Derosa and Murton might be switched in the order-those are the only 2 I'm really unsure about.

then Lyon and Vavlerde shut it down, D-Backs won 3-1

 

 

 

That game was Aug 25, since then

 

Aug 30 - 6.2 IP 3 runs in a win against San Diego

Sep 4 - 7.0ip 1 run in a win against Sand Diego

Sep 9 - 4 ip 4 run against St Louis

Sep 14 - 4.2 ip, 6 run, 4 er against the dodgers

Sep 19 - 4.2ip, 4 runs against the Giants

Sep 25 - 5ip, 2 runs against the Pirates

 

 

So basically Davis has not pitched over 5 innings in exactly 1 month... that scares me.
