-"We made a terrible mistake with Perez."

-"It's my fault."

-"The scouts screwed up."

-"We'll see if he makes the team"

WDFN

"Stoney & Wojo" asked: "What do you say to the Tiger fans that ask,Why did you trade for and play Neifi Perez?"

Leyland: "Well, that's a good question because Neifi Perez played terrible and he stunk and that's my fault."

he never said that part. I thought that was pretty out there for him to say (atleast) THAT part. .

I got the quotes from a Tigers forum, after listening to it he didn't say "and he stunk" but he did rip him pretty good

That was absolutely great. I'm making that my new signature. Finally someone not only realizes Neifi sucks, but also takes responsibility for not realizing that Neifi sucks.

I hope this public shaming keeps Perez from ever playing another game for a major league team for the rest of his life.

Neifi, wherver you are, I'm sure you're a great guy...you're simply one of the worst baseball players I have ever seen and ever will see. Please stop killing the sport that I love so much. Enjoy having made more money than I can even dream of and live a long and happy life. Just do it away from baseball. FAR away. Thanks. Kisses.

Sadly if he would have hit .250 after going to Detroit they would have let Casey go and would have moved Guillen to 1st. He just really stunk up the joint in Detroit. With the Cubs he had his moments that made people think he was serviceable. The truth is he is terrible even if he hits .280

Maybe next time they'll take a look at his numbers and judge him based on those instead of the inevitable poor job he was going to do for them in far fewer ABs.

I for one hope he plays another 15 years in the majors, none for the Cubs, though.

Damn, he'd look good in a Cardinals uniform, wouldn't he ???

Based on the Cardinals history of acquiring a player and watching him, all of a sudden, reach levels he had never previously reached in his career up to that point, I will have to respectfully disagree with you.

See, though, that's the brilliance in wanting him there. Anyone who goes to the Cards is going to magically resurrect his career. That's why we need them to get the crappiest ballplayers possible, so that the improvement is tolerable to our pitchers.

Think about it like this. Even if Neifi went through "Cardinal Magic", we're still just talking .290/.310/.350 here.

Neifi for Cards SS :D

I like the Tigers, but I hope Neifi plays great in ST just so they don't trade him back to us.

It still astounds me that Hendry found a taker for Neifi. He was a plainly awful player in the midst of a terrible season. How could professional baseball men not understand what casual fans could?
