Ok, so this came to me as I was getting in bed...had to post it here because I'll be interested to come back tomorrow and what people have to say....

Schmidt, Remmy, a mil, and a cubs rule 5 eligible to the Nats

Wilkerson to the cubs

Patterson, Rusch, Macias (hehe), and a cubs rule 5 eligible prospect to the giants

Giants get a young CF to cover all that ground, more importantly a lefty with power, who can benefit from the Bonds short porch, plus they get the starter they are asking for and a decent prospect.

Nats get the pitching help they need to pull ahead in the NL East and a prospect

We get a stud to put inbetween DLee and ARAM. It looks like his power has dropped off, but he has a nasty home split. His OBP would look good at the top of our lineup, but Hairston's is just as good.

Probably some tinkering needs to be done but that sounds like a good deal for all clubs in principle.

Heres a lineup that will score some runs

Hairston CF/LF

Walker 2B

DLee 1B

Wilkerson LF/CF

ARAM 3B

Burnitz RF

Cedeno SS

Barrett C

Lets just hope that I am as spot on as my night before it happened "hoops-esque" call of the A's/Brave's trade.

So let me get this straight...

The Cubs are sending:

Patterson

Remlinger

2 ML ready players

1 Million Dollars

Rusch

Macias

All for Brad Wilkerson?

Errr...am I the only one that thinks this is a bit overboard?

Washington is making out like bandits. For them it's only Wilkerson for Schmidt, Remmy, $1M and a prospect? Wow.

And the Cubs are getting fleeced supplying everything.

Remmy and Macias are dumps, and the 2 rule 5s wont exactly be ML ready prospects...They will be guys that might have a chance of being taken and stowed away, or maybe not. They dont have to be rule 5s, I was just saying 2 mid level prospects that have some decent value but are low in the system, or something like that. I'm not saying like Nolasco, Hill, Pinto type guys, I'm saying more Ryu type guys. Rusch isn't that useful to us now with Williams here and Mitre as insurance. Plus he hasn't had a good outing in a month, where his ERA has risen by 1.28. I threw the prospects in there to sweeten the pot to get things moving, but in principle its patterson and rusch for schmidt for wilkerson

Schmidt's injury has decrease his value and made him much riskier, plus hes a FA at the end of the season. Wilkerson still has 2 more arbi years.

Schmidt has a $10m team or mutual option. Dunno if it vests if he's traded.

We are still talking about Schmidt. Any team could use a pitcher like Schmidt who I consider to be more valuable than Wilkerson.

Anyway... the bigger issue is for the Cubs who are the ones supplying everything.
