ESPN has an article that discusses a possible Beltran for Manny trade that could have happened at the deadline.

In that article, it states that Manny would not have agreed to go to the Mets.

The ironic thing is that by the end of the weekend, Manny said he would not go to the Mets," says Ramirez's agent Greg Genske of Legacy Sports Group. "I know people have speculated about Pedro [Martinez] and his influence, but Manny does not want to be traded to the Mets."

This adds some intrigue to those that believe Ramirez will be traded to the Mets this offseason.

Furthermore, the article goes on to list destinations that Manny would consider.

If Ramirez does request to be traded, Genske says "his preference would be Anaheim. He also still loves Cleveland, and would go back there." Another possibility would be Arizona, if Boston would take some of the contracts the Diamondbacks are trying to move, including Troy Glaus and Luis Gonzalez. Texas was in play at the deadline.

I'm dissapointed Chicago isn't on the list. :(

How well do Sosa and Ramirez get along? The Cubs treated Sammy really bad there towards the end. Of course, he really didn't deserve to be treated any better than that, but the players don't see that part of it.

I don't know about that. Sammy wasn't treated very well by the players on his own team. I think that speaks volumes about the type of person he was. I

Maybe Ramirez doesn't want to play in any high pressure cities. Arizona and Cleveland certainly fit the bill, and pratically no one in Anaheim cares about baseball. That would fit in with his very laid back attitude towards the game.

Why do you say that no one in Anaheim cares about baseball? They have some of the best attendance in all of baseball.

Gammons was on Mike and Mike this morning talking about this article. He agreed with the article and thought Manny would not want the Mets and that Anaheim was his number one choice.

Gammons also said Arizona is looking to deal Glaus and that perhaps the Red Sox would trade for him, put him at first, and bat Manny third, Pappi fourth, and Glaus fifth. In that scenario Gammons saw Damon leaving Boston, but if Damon is resigned that they would likely try to move Manny.

I too wanted to hear the Cubs mentioned, if nothing more than "they have money to spend and need a big-bat outfielder".

I'm sorry, I should rephrase. Their expectations aren't anywhere near as high as somewhere like NY, Boston or Chicago.

I didn't mean to impugn Angels fans.

I think the Yankees helped them out in more ways than one with their financial problems (ie: Randy Johnson/Javier Vazquez and revenue sharing). I think the Dodgers also helped them with Shawn Green and a few other bloated contracts.

Don't they now also have a tv deal in place, something they weren't able to do for 5 years after they became a franchise? I remember something about that, but don't recall the specifics.

after purging the roster of 'bad attitudes' after 2004, i can't see any way in which the cubs would add manny to their current roster of boy scouts. after all, removing all the bad seeds worked wonders this season.

I have to believe this about Manny wanting to play for a winning team. After all, what does the city of Cleveland have that Chicago doesn't? Too bad the Cubs sucked this year.

Also, can you imagine Manny and A-Ram hanging out? They could place bets on who would take longer to run out a groundout.

Aramis has been playing with a bad hamstring for quite some time now. How do you want him to run out a ground out? Like Nomar?

Holy crap, could you immagine Anaheim w/ Manny?

An outfield containing both Vlad & Manny.

Bye bye everybody else in baseball.

Although not both in the same OF, the combo of Manny and Papi are a better duo than Manny and Vlad.

The difference is that Manny is still putting up MVP numbers. Sosa wasn't anymore, which is why they could justify getting rid of him.

The Cubs will take a guy with an iffy attitude, i think, if he's really good.

I don't know, Vlad/Manny or Manny/Ortiz there isn't any difference between the production of the two, IMO. In that sense, it would be a lateral move for Manny.

I think Anaheim would have to trade Garrett Anderson to Boston. Sure they have lots of money, but they're already paying Vlad, Colon, GA and Cabrera a boatload of money, and looks like Molina will get a nice raise.

Anaheim and Boston may not be a good match. Iirc Anderson has some health issues. I believe he has pretty poor knees, and Boston already has a DH.

Looks like Manny has asked for a trade once again.

Gene Mato, one of Manny Ramirez's representatives, communicated to Red Sox owner John W. Henry yesterday that Ramirez wants to be traded, and will not report to spring training if his wish to be dealt is not met, according to a team source.

I really wish we had enough firepower to go after him.

I think we do. It would be a matter of would he want to come here. I have always thought ManRam would he great at Wrigley.

ManRam would only belong in the St. Louis locker room. MRam can play LF in Wrigley any time he wants to.

Not unless you want to give up Pie, Williams and Hill. And that might not even be enough.

Who cares. We gave up Garland, Willis, Joe Carter and I'm sure many others. Who did we get in return? My point. If we are going to give up top prospects, at least get an All Star in return. Manny would be a huge boost to the offense. Prospects are just that, prospects. Use them to your advantage. Dont get me wrong, i would not make a habit of doing this, I dont want this to be like the Yankee farm system, but this is Manny. I want to win, and the only way to do that is to take some chances.
