I think Marmol needs to get more seasoning in the minors. For a promising pitcher just out of A ball, he has been asked to produce too quickly at the ML level. I hope he still has some confidence left, but I think Baker has squeezed this rookie to the max with high pitch counts and a losing record like he has done with so many others!

Wow. Didn't realize we were that close to the Royals. Just checked the schedule and the Royals have won 4 in a row.

Marmol has 2 quality starts out of 5 overall starts. That's the fourth most quality starts on the team this year behind, not surprisingly, Z (13), Marshall (8), and Maddux (7). But those three have all made more starts than Marmol this year. I don't think Marmol has thrown too many pitches either. I think he should stay as long as he doesn't start to get routinely hit like Hill and Guzman did, neither of whom made a quality start this year at the ML level.

The Cubs have had 3 quality starts in the last three games and have won 2 of 3.

After being called out by Am Ram the pitching staff called and meeting and Maddux spoke. He said Am Ram was right. The pitching has been an equal partner in the suckiness. So to shut Am Ram up the staff has thrown some gems. In a internal battle within the Cubs team, Pitchers vs. Offense, the pitchers have stepped it up while the offense can be squarly blamed for the lone lost game.

Marmol goes 8 strong Cubs win 5-2.

It's not about Dusty, Hendry or MacPhail it about the Cubs team. Always has.

I agree. Why wouldn't Marmol have confidence left? He's been pitching decent and hasn't been getting blown out.

You a clubbie or gameday staffer?

This has to be the least active game thread ever. It's already the bottom of the 2nd, and there hasn't been a single post during the game.

My post was during the game! :P

Murton blew it in the OF on the first double, but Marmol will be lucky if he goes four innings with the way he's been pitching.
