Alright, so with MLBs deal with DirecTV (Which I haven't heard to be official yet, any one who can prove me wrong please do) I will not be able to get the extra innings package this year, and was thinking about getting MLB.TV. Can anyone give me their opinions on this? I really like that you get Gameday Audio with it also.

I live in CO Springs, CO and except for Saturday black out provisions can get every game.

Last year I got a wireless LAN and often sat out on my patio watching and listening to the game, even gardening. The picture was usually very good although not cable/satellite quality this year I was told that was enhanced even more.

I could also split the screens and have the statistics on side by side. It appears they have raised the annual charge $10.00 but still have the same monthly charge of $14.95 or annual 89.95 (you get October) so this year I might just do it monthly.

Also when the Cubs played during the day I could come home and watch an archive game.

Also, you can watch games in full screen mode right? How do those look?

MLB.TV is going to have a premium version this year with a picture quality "twice as good as last season."

It is more expensive than the standard MLB.TV but if the demo is really representative of the picture quality, in full screen mode, it's worth the price. A least it will be for me. :D

I signed up for mlb.tv premium yesterday. I hooked up my laptop to my TV. The new resolution update looked pretty good on my Samsung 32" LCD.

Cool. I was wondering about the TV connection. How are you hooked up through the TV? Is the picture quality better than what you see on your computer monitor or the same?

I just hooked up through my VGA from laptop to the TV and ran cable from my headphone jock on my computer to my stereo. The picture quality from the last season sucked both on the computer and on the TV. The updated version of MLB.TV while not perfect is much better than last season. It's watchable not cable quality but pretty damn close.

I'm definitely getting MLB.tv this year. A quick question though...

Is the difference between the 400K for regular and 700K for premium that much? I really have no idea. Also, what the heck is Mosaic?

The quality between the two is world's apart but whether or not you should spend for Premium wholly depends on your internet speed. The new MLB.TV Premium works best for faster connections (the 400k version is last year's quality, which was palatable but not nearly as crisp as the 700k they are promising in 2007).

Mosaic is free with MLB.TV. It allows you to watch 6 games simulanteously although, you can only listen to one at a time. Mosaic's quality also depends on your internet speed.

Edit: Premium can support speeds as fast as 1.5MB which is exceptionally clear. Again, the demo looks really sharp for me but I just upgraded my connection speed so that I can get Premium. I was using a Sony Ericsson aircard, in my laptop, previously but the speed wasn't fast enough to support the standard MLB.TV video without glitches. I now have the fastest cable internet and the video is very TV-like.

Anybody know if I can share an account with my brother (i.e. split the cost, paying for one subscription), and have both of us able to log on and watch at the same time?

I think you can. I just signed into it on two different browsers. It's allowing me to watch two different games at the same time. However, I don't know how it will respond with 2 different IP addresses trying to use the product at one time. You and your brother might want to give it a try by signing up for a month. There is no contract so if it doesn't work you can always cancel without a penalty.

what speeds are they recommending for each? i believe theres sites that will tell you how fast your connection is, if my connection is good enough i may have to give it a shot.

edit: looks like they've got links to a meter and requirements on the main page.

I just signed up for premium a couple of days ago as well :)

I tried the beta version of mosaic last year (when it was free) and it was pretty cool. I guess this year, you'll be able to do things like select favorite players and have your "main" screen switch over when particular players are at bat. I haven't played fantasy until this year, but can definitely see how this could be kinda cool

I *loved* having Gameday Audio as well. I can't get an XM signal at work, so this allows me to be able to listen as I'm working with spreadsheets and doing other fun things in my cube.
