i dont see why rotoworld says it's unlikely to happen. aram came back for much less than he reportedly could have gotten elsewhere.

Basically a 4 year extension? That would be awesome. Doesn't see close the Zito contract that he mentioned wanting though. I hope this is true.

yeah but Z hustles. You have to pay extra for hustle.

You also have to pay extra for the ability to catch the ball.

If Hendry manages to get him for that little, the man is a freakin' genius.

17 million a year is not little....

BP is reporting this as well - two days ago actually.

If it's on the $75 million dollar end of the deal it is. Getting Z for $15 million a year when he probably could get $18 million per is alright by me.

Overpaying Soriano, Marquis, Lilly sure does make up for Underpaying Ramirez, Lee, and Z..

Which is the difference between signing a FA from another team and getting a hometown discount from your own team. The two pitchers were signed to similar salaries as players like them signed in the same offseason, and Soriano was probably overpaid relative to the market but not that badly so.

I dont think there is any way Z signs for those numbers. He could get a 5 year deal for more money somewhere else. I think the Cubs will continue to try to sign him to a deal like that but I dont think its going to happen and Z will ultimately become a free agent and probably sign somewhere else. They really need to pony up the money and give him what he deserves.

thats what everyone said about aram.

This sounds pretty good. I'm sure could get more in other places but how much more? If it ends up near the 85 over 5 years, that's 17 mil/yr. What did Zito get? 18 mil/yr? Granted it's a hometown discount but it would seem feasible. They will also probably add attainable bonuses that could mean more $$.

Why? He is offering a hometown discount and getting more money than pitchers like Carpenter/Oswalt did.

I've noticed over the last few days that Rotoworld has been stealing posts, verbatim, from Foxsports.com. I got that RSS this morning from FS.
