If the Cubs can't get Posada what about Jason Kendall. He is struggling this year but maybe a change back to the NL is what he needs. Probably can get him for a low level talent and a box of baseballs.

No thank you. He's awful. He's expensive and awful. We're better off sticking with Soto and Bowen than adding him.

He might bring just enough to the table for the next 3 months to get the Cubs over for this year and Hendry can go after a long term solution this winter!

He would bring awfulness and terribleitude.

It's no longer 1998. He sucks. I would trade Oakland players to keep him away from us.

Well stated.

Like Eyre, Izturis and Jones. Right now in fact.

Kendall is making 13 million this season. We'd be taking on some salary if we traded for him.

That's his line this season. Horrible. Plus he hasn't been good behind the plate in years.

His three previous seasons haven't been that bad though. I still would have little to no interest. He's 33 and it appears that his skills have greatly diminished. If we couldn't live with Barrett back there, there's no reason to try Jason Kendall.

I want to trade for a power hitting OF, stick with Soto behind the plate with Bowen/Blanco in limited roles, and stick with DeRosa/Fontenot/Theriot in the middle infield. There really aren't any catchers out there that would be available that I want (minus Salty Dog, but yeah)

Rotoworld is reporting it

Jason Kendall-C- Athletics Jul. 16 - 8:33 pm et

The Cubs have acquired Jason Kendall from the A's, according to MLB.com.

The A's have confirmed the deal. The initial report said Sean Marshall would go the other way, but that would be an awful trade for the Cubs. Now it looks like the A's are getting a minor league pitcher. The A's will go with Kurt Suzuki as their starting catcher. J.D. Closser could be called up to back him up. We don't think this means Mike Piazza will resume catching, at least within the next few weeks. Piazza remains a strong candidate to be traded.
