April 5- Macias and Perez get ABs over Hairston and Dubois. Neifi Perez pinch hits with the game on the line and the Cubs down a run. The team's lone power threat off the bench sits and watches.

How do you make this a sticky?

I really agree with Raw here. This thread will have NSBB legendary status by the end of the season.

Much to the chagrin, though not shock, of us all.

The "Fire Dusty" BandWGN is filling up on BP Ultimate baby....

This should be a sticky that only bad manager moves go in.

There should be one for discussion only, and one for listings.

Of course, ZZ may go crazy and leave, but we'll take the good with the good.

Copied from the Macias thread...

This is all the more reason why Dubois should start and Holly should come off the bench. The opposition will keep coming with RH relievers and Dusty will keep trotting Macias and Perez out there because they are switch hitters, leaving the two good hitters on the bench. If JD was starting, we would have seen Holly instead of Macias or Perez.

But like Illini said in the Gamethread, Man its tough dude when the breaks don't go your way dude and man Neifi is a great pinch hitter dude...or something like that.

For tonight, consider Dusty busted. Worst in-game manager/strategist in baseball.

This thread will be great for the Dusty lovers out there. I don't know if they can stand the pages and pages of hard evidence that Dusty is garbage. Man, their heads might explode, dude.

But if Dubois or Hairston starts in LF who hits the 3 run homer?

Yeah, because it's not like anyone else can hit a homerun.

That question is a little short-sighted. I posted that opinion because this is harldly the last of this pinch-hitting pattern when the starter and then the reliever are right-handed. I grant you the Holly homer tonight, but I am more concerned about the long term effects of this philosophy.

When Macias pinch hit, Hairston would have been a better option. When Perez pinch hit, either Hairston or Dubois would have been a better option. I've always tried to give Dusty benefit of the doubt...but the evidence is mounting that he is clueless in in-game managing.

if I made a bet right now that this season Neifi and Macias, combined, will have at least 2.5 times the plate appearances of Dubois and Hairston, combined, who would bet against me?

I wouldn't bet against either macias or neifi vs dubois. I think hairston is gonna get some ABs

With macias or neifi vs. Dubois, it's a lot higher than 2.5 to 1. probably close to 5 to 1

I'm going to try my best not to knitpick every little mistake that happens in each game, because mistakes will happen. Unfortunately, some mistakes are avoidable and still get made. With runners on base, no way do you bring in Neifi Perez to pinch hit. Not one guy got fooled by Lyon. Aramis hit a foul ball about 700 feet. Two outs were made to deep centerfield, and would probably have been homers if they were hit to left. Why on Earth do you leave Dubois sitting on the bench in this situation?

Of course, Walker was catnapping at 2nd base on that first wild pitch. He should have easily waltzed into 3rd on that one.

With Macias pinch hitting with 2 outs and noboby on in the 7th I suppose you could make a case for saving your good pinch hitters. But Neifi pinch hitting in the 9th when we're down 1 run with 2 outs and a man on 1st, now that is absurd. Neifi is one of the worst offensive players in the modern game and he was not signed for anything but his glove. To have him hitting and making the last out while Dubois and Hairston watch from the dugout is inexcusable.

If we have a thread that discusses all the stupid moves Baker will make...well this thread could end up longer than the infamous chit-chat thread.

I miss the chit chat thread. It was never the same after it was broken up into Baby Bell-type mini threads by the evil antimonopoly overlords
