Levine: Soto called up; 3 teams interested in Izturis

Just heard it on ESPNRadio 1000 in Chicago.

 

Geovany will be called up; no word on who is going down.

 

3 teams are interested in trading for Cesar Izturis. No word on who.

He'd be DFA'ed, and since he knows he won't get a job elsewhere putting up a .400 OPS or whatever it is, accept the outright to Iowa. If he's crazy enough to opt for free agency, oh well.

Who cares if Hill is out of options? If Soto is up and Blanco is making progress, he is going to have to be exposed to waivers soon anyway. I'd be amazed if anyone claimed him.

Maybe he would. But the Cubs aren't exactly loaded at catcher, so he could still look at them as one of his better opportunities to make a big league roster.

 

 

This is very intriguing. I'd be surprised if they called up Soto right now, only because it took so long in the first place.

Getting Griffey wouldn't affect Ronny being called up.

Unless he opts for FA and makes it to the bigs with another team, Koyie is also risking losing money later this season (since he's been in the bigs this season, he'd paid more than, say, Les Walrond or John Webb).

 

Does this mean something went wrong with Hank White's comeback? It seems odd timing since there were thoughts that he'd start rehabbing in Peoria within a week.

He's in the last year of his contract and I'm assuming the Cubs would pick some of the remaining money up, so he would be a fairly cheap "solution" to anyone desperately needing middle infield help.

It could mean they realized they were waiting for HENRY BLANCO to make it back to the team and help things.
