Yes. Grimm is also a doppelganger for Bryce Harper.

"Not because he's done anything short of a marvelous job, but because some FO turnover is good" Wow, this dude is just talking out of his ass. What does this even mean? Yes, so-and-so has done a marvelous job, but maybe we should roll the dice with some new blood? What!? It just makes no s...

Re: Jason Heyward to CUBS!!!

'98 was a really special year for me as a baseball fan. I don't think I would love the game nearly as much if that year didn't happen. I was 14 and, before then, baseball was probably my third favorite sport. I truly fell in love with the Cubs, and baseball, in general, during that summer. That year...

As punishment, they should be forced to give their best pitcher and best position player to their biggest rival.

Re: 2016 Cubs Farm and Prospect Musings

The gap between #2 and # 15 in the system is as narrow as it has ever been, so almost any permutation can be justified. That said, I'm not overly swayed by the commentary for those that seem out of line. Almora's report especially seems to underscore Craig's point about seeing a guy's swing at a po...

Re: Starlin Traded to Yankees for Adam Warren & Brendan Ryan

I don't care if he wrote it or not, or how much of a hand he had in it -- it still was very touching and made me sad. I haven't been sad about him leaving... like, at all. Now I am. It's not that I didn't like him or wanted to see him gone or anything. I've just been kinda detached. Good baseball mo...

Re: 2016 Cubs Farm and Prospect Musings

Reading about that just makes me angry that we didn't get Theo a year before. Mookie Betts would look pretty good in a Cubs uniform. I know it's not exactly like it would be an even swap and we would just have all the guys the Red Sox drafted, or anything remotely close to that. But, the Red Sox kil...

Re: Jason Heyward to CUBS!!!

btw I don't look back all that fondly on 2004...aside from maybe the Nomar trade day, the Sosa/Alou back to back game and the Walker slide. but overall that season sucked. i remember it as a lot of waiting for prior to come back and actually look like prior, the cardinals getting off to an insurmou...

"Here are a bunch of guys on the Cardinals with red flags; I think things will all go swimmingly."

Come on, dude. Even if those guys all have healthy seasons and replicate their dubious success from last year, the Cubs are still much better.

Re: Javy Baez 2016 Prediction

While I understand the appeal in Baez off the bench, I think the upside isn't as high as people think. Lets say Addison Russell's tweaks his hamstring in early May, requiring a DL stint, giving Baez the Shortstop job. The idea of a 23 year old extremely aggressive hitter excelling in a starting rol...

If you haven't seen it yet, stop what you are doing and go binge watch Making a Murderer , the true crime docu-series on Netflix. Seriously, go watch it all... right now. It's stranger than fiction. It's gripping, emotional, and intense. And it's just excellent. I'm only 4 episodes in, but it is so...

Re: Cardinals Not Pursuing Major Position FA?

How, exactly, do they plan on catching back up with us? All of the remaining pitching options kinda suck. If they are standing pat with their position players and add a Mike Leake, we probably enter the season as the favorite by about ten games.

Re: Jason Heyward to CUBS!!!

Yeah, I'm not following you on this line of thinking. Unless I am interpreting your post wrong, you seem to be suggesting that the value of the opt-out for Heyward is in having those five extra years after the opt-out date... just in case. It would make sense if he were only offered three-year deal...

Using this ZiPS projection: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CV9tC4eWsAAEgol.png:large Let's assume he plays right field every single year, since that's where the whole dissonance is coming from. Let's say we take those ZiPS projections and take away all of his defensive runs saved. Let's also say that e...

Re: Cubs Sign John Lackey - 2 years $32M per Rosenthal

Kind of funny that Lackey is such a colossal jag that they didn't even present him to the media. Maybe they were holding out on his presser to wait for Heyward to sign so they can do a dual one to shove it down St. Louis' throat They should hold it in St. Louis. Maybe at the local Camaro dealership.

Re: Jason Heyward to CUBS!!!

The funniest thing to me about the people who critique this deal because so much of his value comes from these fancy newfangled sabermetrics (particularly fielding) when, if he were actually being paid what those sabermetrics say he's worth, he'd be getting like $40-50M a year. People are [expletiv...

With Heyward and Zobrist at 1 & 2 in the order, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Rizzo and Bryant will drive in a few more than 100 runs this year. yeah these guys are finishing 1/2 in the MVP race, just a matter of who happens to get more votes. Cubs players will finish 1 through 10...

i refuse to believe there's not more tucked away offensively in there somewhere. He's going to hit 20 home runs this year, he's going to hit a bunch of doubles. I trust the cubs will unlock whatever is missing I was just talking myself into this, as well. Not that people haven't been saying this fo...
