Re: The Music Thread

Who the hell would have called Iggy Pop being the last man standing of the original punk and glam scenes? Is the Hot Hot Hot guy still alive? David Johansen (aka Buster Poindexter) of The New York Dolls is still alive. He's in the Bill Murray Christmas special he just did for Netflix. I loved the N...

I was already reading Bill James and was happy to get Ron Hassey as part of the deal...then we hardly ever played him.

Re: The General TV Thread

My theory is the vast amount of county governments (county commissioners, sheriff's offices, etc) are completely corrupt. You have a combination of lack of public oversight (everyone cares about their mayor, city councilors, but cannot name their county commissioners. Many sheriffs serve for decade...

Re: Good job gun nuts you did it again

If this was actually about some old guy going back to prison for 5 yrs after he already had been sentenced and released, I would somewhat understand the protest. I don't understand the armed resistance at all. I really don't understand how they seem to get away with it.

Re: College Football - Bowl Games

I think OSU would have been a much better match up for Alabama. MSU style played right into Alabama's hand. Then add in a poor punt coverage team, and receivers dropping their limited chances. MSU would have been much better off playing Oklahoma or Clemson. All the games were blow outs. I think that...

I think Philosophizer's proposal is an extreme penalty. But leaves open the idea that not everything is black and white.

That targeting call on Bosa....come on The ejection is too extreme in all cases. I could live with a 15 yd penalty on that play. At the very least, give every player one personal foul without ejecting. there are cases where the ejection makes sense. I think since they review every play, it would be...

Re: College Football - Bowl Games

Bama v Clemson sounds about right. I think if Bama wins Saban will get the hell out of Tuscaloosa. Maybe Texas will make it work out this time or maybe he'll scratch the NFL itch again. Ultimately I think he'll end up on TV on College Gameday or something like that. He's really good. clearly to two...

Re: College Football - Bowl Games

Defensive lineman hands to the face happens all the time. Only gets called when the lineman holds it there too long. Gets called twice on one drive for next to nothing.

That being said, Sabban is a mile ahead of Dantonio....with better athletes.

Is Schwarbers defense that bad in left? 2 War with those offensive numbers.

I love the Harlond Clift comp for Bryant. Mostly because I actually know who Cliff was because I wrote about him in a HS paper once.

honestly, I could have gotten over the slime ball thing. I would have made this trade in a second. And I would have hoped for a suspension.

I have heard good stuff about Al Jazeera. Seems odd that they would stick with this story if their only source had recanted. Makes me think they have something else.

Listen, Carrie Fisher isn't winning any acting awards, but she wasn't distractingly bad. She was in like 2 scenes. I'm not sure what people expected; she's a 60 year old resistance General, not a 18 year old spitfire princess and it's not like she was an up and coming Merle Streep in the first tril...

It was great. Felt like a early teen again. I understand some of Ryne Ween's criticism, but it seems like he was just looking for a reason to dislike the movie and is running with a few crumbs when the rest of the cake was so darn good.

yeah, not a lot of objectivity. It was a great early season NBA story when the casual fan is still paying more attention to football.

Well, that's certainly one way of putting it.

As someone who volunteer coaches youth football and baseball. The parents that are the worse are those who coach from the stands and those that ask their kid why so and so is playing and not him. First one is a huge distraction to his child while he is playing. The second one is creating animosity w...
