A heartfelt thank you from Peoria

Now that I am back from visiting family in Europe, I wanted to drop a quick note to say thank you to all the supporters, posters and readers here at NSBB for all the interaction and support over the last eight seasons. While personally it is exciting for the Chiefs to return to the Cardinals, I thor...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 5-9-12

Hey Nate, what is your favorite color? <figured you could use one right down the middle> Appreciate that Rob, I go with navy blue used by my Alma Mater Marquette. Though the carolina blue jerseys we wear now are really sweet too. Did not know there were two fellow Marquette alumni broadcasting in t...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 5-9-12

Hey Nate, Should fans feel ... confident about Taiwan and Marco's improved hitting of late? Is it fair to wonder if Marco was pressing for a period there? Also, if Wells is piggybacking off Concepcion, does that mean Burke is going to stay as a "full load" guy with Francescon/Rosario/Jens...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 5-9-12

If gameday is correct, Kyler Burke is mowing through that Beloit lineup, as it shows him 6 up, 6 down, 1 3 pitch strikeout ... 5 first pitch swinging outs?!?! So ... 8 pitches, 6 outs? I'd question gameday on that, but they did show 3 pitches on the strikeout. Edit: So, is this a continuation of th...

Any updates on Ben Wells' finger?

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 5-4-12

Wells with a blister will not piggyback Burke tonight. Kyler is on his own as a starter with regular bullpen to follow. Likely Liria, Shafer and Cruz in that order. None have pitched since Monday. McKirahan available in save situation.

Wells was a late scratch about an hour ago.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 4-24-12

I'm planning on going to Peoria/Kane County next Friday, am I right in assuming that today's Peoria starter(Burke/Wells) would be scheduled for that day as of right now? That is correct, however it will be Wells/Burke next time. They will rotate as starter. Hey, out of curiosity, if you know, and i...

I'm planning on going to Peoria/Kane County next Friday, am I right in assuming that today's Peoria starter(Burke/Wells) would be scheduled for that day as of right now? No that should be Jose Rosario. We have an off day May 1 so it would bump everyone. The way it looks right now, barring any moves...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 4-5-12

Interesting that Burke was brought in for an inning. I'm assuming it's just to get in some work, but nothing is set in stone yet, so who knows. He is piggybacking Wells on Monday but with a Sunday off day for Easter he couldnt go without throwing. I think Cruz, our Tuesday starter, is going to do t...

Re: Pitching rotations?

Anyone know who the starting 5 are right now for Iowa, Tenn, Daytona, and Peoria? Also, who are the closers for each team? I know this changes a lot, but I just wanted to know how it looked now. Thanks. For now, all I can piece together is this: Tennessee will open with Nick Struck. Dae-Eun Rhee is...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 8-19-11

Thanks Nate. Figured he wasn't 98, as that seemed so ... out of the realm of what he was talked about. If you see this at some point, could you give us your feel on his secondary stuff? Only limited glances, so I couldn't be certain on how things looked. Do you think the comp that someone made abou...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 8-19-11

I was under the impression that Del Valle was 90/91 on the fastball, with a decent slider, decent change. Am I mixing him up with someone? You might be right, I hadn't heard anything on Del Valle. ETA: Just saw the 98 mph tweet. Wowza. He is 88-92. Our scoreboard lights were out on the bottom left ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 7-3-11

Figured this was the best place to put this as I hadn't seen it elsewhere: From Bruce Miles' blog today The Cubs have sent pitcher Hayden Simpson, their No. 1 pick from last year, from Class A Peoria back to Mesa. I wonder if they'll have Yao-Lin Wang bump up to Peoria to replace Hayden. Wang doesn...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 7-1-11

All of Simpson's runs last night were on Alcantara (again). He would have been out of the 2nd inning with the Chiefs up 3-0 but Alcantara made a throwing error on a double play ball that brought 2 home and since you cannot assume a DP the runs were earned. Then we got homered on a blatant error at t...

Thinking about going to the Chiefs game again Friday, any idea on the starting pitcher? Also is there anyone on South Bend worth watching? Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes 5-12-11

Beeler will actually come off the DL and start for us with Lopez piggybacking. I believe Dallas will be in the 40-50 pitch range for his 1st time off the DL with the oblique strain. Thanks for the good news. Do you know if Graham Hicks will be activated off the DL soon too? Of course I know...and I...
