Re: Dexter Fowler

Cleanup in aisle 3 mods I don't think it's an awful idea to suggest signing Fowler to a one year deal. Here's the reasons I can see the move making sense: -Fowler excels versus lefty pitching (something Heyward, Montero and possibly Schwarber will struggle with). Also Fowler is tolerable against ri...

Re: 2016 hype!

I'm very excited about a lineup with three 30 home run threats, as well as five 350+ OBP threats. Barring a whole lot of things going wrong the lineup should be the best in the NL Central. The rotation makes me a bit nervous though. Kyle Henricks, last season, was very inconsistent. Lackey and Leste...

Re: MLB the show 16

For the life of me I don't understand something about meter style pitching. The meter, for lefty pitchers, faces the exact opposite direction as the right handed meter. So lets say you're using a righty starting pitcher for six innings and then go to a lefty reliever. With the meter facing the oppos...

Re: 2016 Cubs Convention Info

I know getting any sort of juicy info from Theo would probably be tough, but I'm curious about his draft philosophy. All four of his Cub drafts the first round selection has been used on a positional player, with many of the next several picks being used on pitching. Based on this track record I'm w...

Re: Arrieta: Consider yourself lucky he lets you cheer for him

Come August if we have a nice lead in the NL Central I wouldn't be opposed to skipping the occasional Arrieta start. After seeing Jake blow through his single season career high inning total I'm a bit nervous about the prospect of possible velocity drops (and other issues relating to being worked s...

Re: Cardinal 2016 Expectations

Have 2016 projection slash lines been released for Piscotty and Grichuk yet? And in general how accurate are sites like fangraphs with their projections? By the way, its a shame the Cards with able to land Mike Leake. One of their biggest question marks was rotation durability, and they picked up a...

Re: Kris Bryant Appreciation

So what are the odds that Bryant, with a full season worth of starts, can cut his strikeout total to below 180? With his great Walk and Slugging totals it would seem that cutting down on the punchouts is one of the final steps to going from very good to near MVP caliber in 2016. Also those home and...

Re: Cardinal 2016 Expectations

yes, the majority of lefties do worse and/or poorly against lefties. even rizzo probably won't continue to do as well against them as he has (but he's still probably better than your typical lefty vs them). that's not a big deal. and heyward wouldn't be overpaid even if you pretended his defensive ...

Re: Cardinal 2016 Expectations

holy [expletive] is this like ARCubsFan redux? i feel like you've spent the offseason picking apart what could go wrong with the 100 win projection cubs and now you make a huge post about why the cardinals are all going to exceed projections The Ben Zobrist signing, at least in the short term, is a...

Re: Chapman to Yankees for 4 minor leaguers

What's the Cub equivalent to what the Yankees gave up? Having a Chapman/Strop/Rondon back end of the pen trio would have been mighty nice. Especially considering if Chapman more than likely weren't brought back a first or second round pick would be added for the 2017 draft.

Re: Cardinal 2016 Expectations

Sure, why not expect two inexperienced guys to continue to produce at levels in the majors that they never did in the minors. That's the real Cardinal way. Piscotty's 2015 Triple A OPS, which occurred with a significant sample size of over 300 AB's, was about the same as his MLB OPS. As for ...

Cardinal 2016 Expectations

There's clearly some big time question marks about St.Louis heading into 2016, but if most of them turnout well I expect the Cardinals to be well over their fangraph 88 win projection. Here's my biggest Cardinal X-Factors: -Piscotty and Grichuk second year progress. Both made their big league debuts...

Re: Javy Baez 2016 Prediction

While I understand the appeal in Baez off the bench, I think the upside isn't as high as people think. Lets say Addison Russell's tweaks his hamstring in early May, requiring a DL stint, giving Baez the Shortstop job. The idea of a 23 year old extremely aggressive hitter excelling in a starting role...

Re: Javy Baez 2016 Prediction

With Castro being dealt to NYY, I think it's a safe bet that Javy is a Cub for all of 2016. What other options do we have at SS if Russell tweaks his hammy? With the Cubs loading up on relievers, I think it's possible we see an 8 man pen, and only 12 position players. We know Ross takes one of the ...

Javy Baez 2016 Prediction

Pretty simple question here. Do you believe Javy Baez will be dealt before the start of the regular season, during the season itself, or stay on Chicago's 25 man roster the entire year. Also how many at bats do you project Baez to receive, as well as his slash line. I'm predicting either inconsisten...

Re: Jason Heyward to CUBS!!!

Nobody besides the Cubs is winning the division any time soon. Certainly not in this decade. Some of you guys are getting really ridiculous in terms of underestimating St Louis. Their middle of the order trio of Carpenter,Grichuk and Piscotty isn't that far behind that of Rizzo, Bryant and Schwarbe...

It was pretty short. On Soler-Cubs challenged him to lose some weight to become more athletic. Just saw video on him and looks a lot better at the plate and the field. Says his power will increase as he learns to get a little loft which he's working on. Soler's post season showed everyone what he i...

Re: Cardinals Not Pursuing Major Position FA?

Have the Cardinals been linked to Chris Davis since Baltimore apparently pulled their offer? If Davis were added to their lineup, it still wouldn't be as deep as ours, their middle of the order would certainly stack up well.

Also who will be competing for their fifth starters job besides Lyons?

Re: The TOR (Top of Rotation) pitching options

Andrew Cashner seems like a good buy low opportunity. The stuff is clearly there. His durability last season was fine. And with this being his walk year Cashner has all the incentive in the world to take a big step forward in his career. I'd be glad to give up Almora or McKinney on the hope Cashner ...
