Re: Today's wish list...

What's the hold up with Norge Ruiz? He's the one I want them to sign the most anyway.

Re: The class of 2018

Manny Machado should push Bryant to LF. He could be the cherry on top of Harper and Otani. CubsNet will build a super team to end all super teams before destroying civilization as we know it. I'm just saying...this would be fun: C: Whocares 1B: Rizzo 2B: Baez or Whocares SS: Russell 3B: Machado LF: ...

Re: 2016 MLB Draft Discussion

http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/groome-pint-debate-headlines-class-16/ That's BA's top 100 HSers as of 12/1/15. Already touched on Groome, he's the goods, but there's some other guys: - #9 Reggie Lawson is my favorite HS RH so far. He's a John Lackey starter kit as far as the body and game goes...

Does PECOTA still offer 75th percentile and 90th percentile projections for players? I'd love to see what Heyward's are.

Re: Today's wish list...

I like to believe the Cubs aren't done. McGee and Jennings would just be fantastic fits for this 2016 roster. I don't have much to any interest in Rays SP right now unless it's Archer. One arm I do like is Emmy Romero, a LHP with an option year left IIRC and a history as both starter and reliever. -...

Re: Prospects who were never Cubs

I thought they could take the dive on pitching this year, but Allard went and spent the whole spring injured.

Re: Prospects who were never Cubs

Stephen Gonzalves 4th round 2013 for the Twins, signed for less than Hannemann. He was one of the tippy top guys early on in the process but didn't have the velocity jump say a Brady Aiken did come his senior spring. Wanted him with the Cubs, bad, didn't happen and now he's one of the handful best L...

Re: 2016 Cubs Farm and Prospect Musings

I mean - there's other context involved (farm system is weaker, highest upside guys are at the lower levels and/or got hurt) - but I dig me some Candelario and have him as an easy top 10 system guy. I think he can be a similar on field player to Chase Headley, but I always compare him to Mike Lowell...

Re: Chapman to Yankees for 4 minor leaguers

What's the Cub equivalent to what the Yankees gave up? Having a Chapman/Strop/Rondon back end of the pen trio would have been mighty nice. Especially considering if Chapman more than likely weren't brought back a first or second round pick would be added for the 2017 draft. Candelario, Johnson, and...

Sierra is officially a FA. He and Gutierrez are out there among the Cuban pitchers right now, no one else is official yet.

People seem to be making fun of that swing, but the bat speed there is very apparent to me.

Caught a matinee today....As a fan of spoilers, was most stunned just by how good it was. Some thoughts: - I don't see enough praise for Boyega in this movie, he was absolutely phenomenal. He and Driver both were...Driver really reminds me of Allen Rickman, just throwing that out there. Finn was pro...

You're way too kind to that comp. I basically see it as batshyte nuts.

Worse comp over the Theo years - Soler/Vlad or Baez/Sheffield? Probably the Vlad one since those who finished the sentence with Baez/Sheffield saw it was a comp on bat speed.

Re: Projecting the 2016 Cubs

He, Bryant , and Heyward are the guys most likely to get a lot better on this roster. eh, you're talking about a 6 win player getting "a lot better"... that's pretty dicey. can he improve? sure. but he isn't getting any faster, nor is his defense going to improve much, so he's going to ne...

It's going to be fun hearing about how Theo said Soler's defense has improved off of this.

Great Soler commercial...How often do you get a pre-New Year's, let alone ST, Best Shape of His Life/New Physique guy? What's their success rate?!?!?!

Re: Projecting the 2016 Cubs

these lineups are really making me want a big russell breakout From 7/20-10/2 he put up a .767 OPS with an 8% BB rate, .160 IsoSLG, and 25% K rate over 241 PAs. He had K'd at a 31% K rate with a .124 IsoSLG in his first/previous 285 PAs. Personally, I think he'll be their 4th best everyday position...

Probably more, I can't imagine there are many guys who only ever got pure reliever innings while making it to and then through pro ball.

Remember when the Cardinals had Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Molina, Drew, Renteria, and Vina in the same lineups? At the mid-point last decade they fielded two mid-20s homegrown stars on HOF tracks (Pujols, Molina), somehow pulled off landing two more potential HOFers in their primes with Rolen and Edmo...

Surprised Theo gave up on Parker. With Rosenthal's rumors that the Cubs are looking for middle relief, you might wonder why Theo would let one go. This reads less sarcastic in type than it sounds in my head.
