Nomar and Patterson starting to heat up... could be enough to make things interesting.

I wouldn't be against Wood as the closer. If he could avoid walking people, he could become dominant. Williamson in the 8th and KW in the 9th is a scary back end of the bullpen. This would mean we would have to go out and find another starter, but quality #4 or 5 starters are easier to find than do...

He's able to hitt 100 in an inning of work, because his shoulder problems supposedly (I say supposedly because this is what the Cubs are saying) happen afters he's made 40-60 pitches. Knowing that he only has to pitch for 1 inning, he is able to let it all hang out and not worry about conserving fo...

It'd be incredibly stupid to try to prevent Maddux's option from vesting or DFAing him.

Hopefully he has enough pride to realize he doesn't have it anymore or he starts taking whatever Clemens is taking (HGH?) and gets his stuff back.

Considering our track record with position players, I definitely wouldn't start Cedeno and Fontenot next year. There is no way possible that Cedeno plays better than a healthy Nomar. Murton should get a shot but he doesn't have the power numbers you need in a corner OF (plus he seems to be falling b...

I know that, and I'd really like to know who is responsible for dragging out the scenario with Wood. This Amateur Hour could have been avoided if Hendry had traded for a bona fide ML starter - ANY STARTER- in July. And Dusty should be pilloried for his abuse of Hill. He couldn't have tried any hard...

This is flat-out embarassing... this team has no pride.

We'll be behind the Reds in the standings by the end of the week.

Think outside the box and hire the best collegiate coach you can find. http://www.texassports.com/index.phps=&change_well_id=2&url_article_id=159 Just for an example. Give me someone with a high winning percentage, developed a lot of MLB players, and won a handful of College World Series ove...

So, I'm guessing we're just going to not spend all the money we're paying Sosa, Burnitz, Remlinger, Borowski, Nomar, next year?

Really bad managing by Dusty to not send someone out there to kill time to try to keep the wheels from falling off. This team is playing like a bunch of little-leaguers tonight.

Would have been a very easy double play, even if Burnitz would go in as hard as he can.

Playing Nomar 6-7 innings the first couple games isn't a problem. If Neifi is starting more than once a week once Nomar is back up to speed, it'll be a joke. I agree that we need to find a way to get Aram and Lee some days off, but it's pretty hard to do that without throwing a forfeit lineup out th...

I think only one of the starters will be a prospect, if that. We're not going to start 4 ?s in the field with the kind of money the Tribune can and should spend on the team. Considering I think Nomar takes a pay cut and stays our SS, there's not much room for prospects to start. Probably just one OF...

Wood ought to be able to have no problem with Single-A hitters.

His stuff has always been ridiclous, it's just that he gets wild and gets hurt frequently.

When he's on, he's absolutely unhittable.

Keep in mind, BALCO isn't the only lab that makes "undetectable steroids" for athletes. This could have just been a failure or Raffy taking too much too close to a test. Not everything is the same and I'm pretty sure they all have different detection cycles. Pretty sure there's a decent number of gu...

CubsWin, I think you've got the lineup there once Nomar knocks the rust off. Lots of RBI chances for the sluggers and you've got pretty good hitters 6-8. Should score some runs.

Hopefully it works out defensively.

Actually, I had suggested a couple of weeks before his demotion that he should play winter ball. Right now, I just want to put Patterson in a positive position. I'm just not sure playing in Wrigley this season is it. Imagine him coming in to pinch hit and he strikes out. Yes, he could walk or get a...
