I wonder if they are required to stay in the team hotel while in Milwaukee. I'd think a good deal of Cubs live in the North suburbs and simply make the hour or so commute to the ballpark, so they can spend time with their families at night

That hotel list is awesome. I came in handy last year when the Red Sox played at the Cubs. Does anyone know of any other sites that list team road hotels? I am trying to find out where the Red Sox stay when they play in Toronto.

I didn't get the information from a web site; it came from the printed Cubs' media guide (which is available to the public). It's possible that the Red Sox have a media guide with similar information, but what I'd suggest is contacting their public relations department and asking them if they can provide you with that information. You could also contact the Blue Jays public relations department; maybe one of the two could. You might be able to e-mail them through the teams' official web sites.

Cheap Transport to Away Games

Postby Balsa » Wed May 03, 2006 9:38 am

I just found this website which I think will be incredibly useful for travelling to away games.

http://www.megabus.com/us/

They run buses from Chicago to St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee. But the brilliant part is the fares. They start from $1, which is the cost for a one-way trip to those places on a weekday.

On a weekend, Milwaukee is still $1, but Cincinnati is $8, and St. Louis can be from $8-$20.

But still, I think this deal is simply amazing. Where else can you find such a deal?

They also run from Chicago to Cleveland, Columbus, Detriot, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis. Didn't really check the fares to those places. No Cubs games there. :P

You can get any of the trips for 1 dollar, even on the weekends, look at the dates a little further away.

I merged the bus information into the road hotels thread. That way useful information for attending road games is in one stickied thread.

The Red Sox do not release that information.

The hotel list (first post in this thread) has been updated for 2007 based on information from the Cubs media guide. I bolded changes from last year. The thread is moving back to Baseball Discussions as a sticky for the season. At the end of the season it will go back into hibernation in the FAQ forum.

hotels on the road

Postby Shepdog3 » Sun Apr 08, 2007 6:57 am

I see it is listed here. How do we get that info. I want to see where the Rangers stay when in Cleveland ( I lived here ) and in Pitt. Want a chance to meet Sosa.

Help please.

That information came from the Cubs media guide, but they only give that information for the Cubs' road hotels. You could call the Cubs' hotel in Cleveland to ask if the Rangers stay there as well, or you could get the Rangers' media guide and see if they provide that information as well. You might even try contacting the Rangers' public relations department (there's likely an e-mail link on the Rangers' web site) to see if they're willing to provide that information.

Try asking at http://www.newbergreport.com. I'm certain someone there will have a copy of the Rangers media guide.

Are the media guides, in particular the Cubs media guide readily available to the public? If so, where can they be purchased?

The Cubs' media guide can be purchased over the phone by calling the same number that you'd call to subscribe to Vineline (I posted it a while back in Baseball Discussions; if search were working it would be easy to find). That information may be available on cubs.com. I'm not sure about other teams. You can also find media guides available on eBay, but I don't know specifically if anybody's selling this year's Cubs media guide at this time.

This thread's annual journey to the FAQ forum for winter hibernation has been delayed. :D

The Red Sox do not release this information anywhere. Not the media guide...not pressbox...not to opponents for their media guides...not even in the MLB media directory.

I just got my Cub media guide in Mesa earlier this week, and couldn't find this section - it's usually there. Not sure if they had enough of a security concern to stop publishing. Perhaps I'm just missing it and NC will be able to find when he gets his.

My husband and I are headed to Toronto as well. We're staying at the Westin Harbour Castle - it's quite nice. When we were there a couple of summers ago, there was some pro team staying there, although can't be sure where the Cubs will go. We like it for the lake view and the easy (across the street) access to public transportation.

I just got my media guide today. Unfortunately Karen is right; for whatever reason they didn't provide that information this year. I'll move this back to Baseball Discussions and sticky it for the season as usual because most of the information from last year is probably still accurate; it doesn't seem to change much from year to year. What's mainly missing is the AL teams the Cubs visit.

Is there any way to update this list with other teams travelling to Chicago? Even if its a partial list?
When I go I am usually with the opposing team's fans, and they'd probably like to know that info.
Thanks

Last year the Cardinals and Giants stayed at the Ritz-Carlton (312-266-1000) and all other visiting teams stayed at the Westin (312-943-7200). No way of knowing whether that's still true this year since the Cubs stopped providing hotel information.

Or through the Cubs' merchandise department (1-800-248-9467). To order it by mail costs $21.95 total (including shipping), which is much less than people had been paying for it on eBay.
