The Video Game thread

Postby Banedon » Wed Sep 19, 2007 6:49 am

The idea is for this to be similar to the music thread. Post what game you're playing right now. Other video game thoughts are fine too...

I'm currently playing Hitman: Blood Money (second time through, trying for Silent Assassin on Professional difficulty), The Godfather (better than any of the GTA's), and Super Metroid on a SNES emulator.

I'll be playing Metroid Prime 3 whenever I can get my hands on a copy...

Still haven't started BioShock and I bought it two weeks ago. I will start playing it this weekend. I have to finish it before Halo 3 comes out.

Metroid Prime 3 is probably the best "hardcore" Wii game out right now. Fun to play, controls fantastically.

If I had a high-def TV and/or a leading-edge computer, I'd give Bioshock a shot, but as of right now I don't have anything that can run it that would do the graphics justice.

NCAA Football '06.

I'm in Season 6 of my "Nick Saban" dynasty, where I take a new job every 2 years. I'm hoping to hit all 6 BCS conferences. I started in North Texas, then 2 years at UTexas, and am now in my second year at USC.

I'm alternating between Madden 08 and Blue Dragon, both for the 360.

Madden's pretty cool, but the franchise mode sucks terribly. It's been stripped of many of the cool features.

Blue Dragon is an RPG made by the same guy (Hironobu Sakaguchi) who began the Final Fantasy series (for those of you familiar with the greatest RPG ever). It's pretty cool, the graphics are a bit cartoony, but the storyline's good.

Just started on Metroid Prime. I agree. The controls are fantastic. I'm looking forward to playing it more, but unfortunately work and the Cubs take up most of my time.

Asteroids on my cell phone.:P

My Gamecube is collecting dust in my TV room. I only play MarioKart once and a great while when my nephew comes over.

I have no money to upgrade to an Xbox 360, Wii, or Playstation 3.
Anyone have any idea what a Gamecube, 4 controllers, and like 20 games can trade in for? An Xbox 360 controller, maybe a playstation 3 remote? lol

I've been playing a bunch of old SNES games on my SNES emulator, right now I'm going through the old Final Fantasies, including the ones that didn't even get to the US.

MLB 05, still!

I'm in year 2013 and the Cubs are going for their 8th consecutive WS. The game still holds my attention. In the draft I take one guy (a pitcher and a position player) and use all the mini-games for him in ST to boost his skills. I have the best minor league system. And Dusty Baker still has no job after he was fired to begin the 2005 season.

Motorstorm and Resistance, both for the PS3. I like both, alot.

Motorstorm probably needs a 1080P display to fully experience the graphics -- they are incredible, beyond anything I've ever seen before. The soundtrack is pretty much perfect for the game, and the gameplay I find to be just amazing. The track design is as diverse as I've seen, there's at least 3 or 4 alternate routes to each track and you can switch between them en route. Different routes hold different advantages for different types of vehicles. There's alot to it -- but one drawback is there are only 10 or so tracks, so it's not a huge game. It's more of a quick, powerful shot of adrenaline.

I'm really not qualified to rate a first-person shooter because I haven't played many, but I do find Resistance to be enjoyable, probably because it wasn't difficult to pick up on the controls so I feel like I am doing well. I'm enjoying the variety of weaponry available -- each weapon definitely has a decided advantage that can be used in different situations tactically to gain an advantage. I haven't tried the online yet.

I have Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but haven't really played it much yet.

What games do you have for Gamecube. If you are looking to sell, I would probably be interested in buying some off of you. I also wouldn't mind another wireless controller or two...

Ninja Gaiden Sigma, just started a new game on Master Ninja mode.

I am a hardcore veteran gamer, and the upper difficulty levels are as hard as anything I have ever played.

I'm playing a lot of MVP 2004 (yes, 2004) and NCAA 2008 on PS2 lately.

I won't get a PS3 or an XBOX 360 until GTA IV comes out and that won't be til next year now.

Fallout 1 and 2, Madden 08, and a little Bioshock.
With the way the Cobs are playing, my big screen might be dedicated to the xbox a lot more.

GTA: San Andreas, MVP 05, and I bought NBA Live 2007 for like 12 bucks the other day. I've been playing GTA a lot lately cause I just bought it a few weeks ago. But prior to that, the only games I've played in the last couple years were MVP and Madden.

I think I'm going to buy a Nintendo 64 and Mario Kart.
