Mmmmmm, so much legal freedom.

They better not let any of those [expletive] gubmit workers take that leftover ammo, that [expletive] legally belongs to the orphaned baby.

Return that baby to Syria where they came from.

YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT. Terrorists have the right to legally buy guns, too.

I'm sure THAT article and cover would have gotten a lot of attention.

Good on them -- it was a great headline -- exactly on point.

I did get a kick out of the TX politician recently who didn't have enough of a filter to avoid saying that he supports not letting refugees into his state because it would be too easy for them to buy guns.

I like the idea someone proposed of organizing as many black/muslim men as possible and have them all go to apply for concealed carry permits on the same day, just to see the NRA explode

Well yes, I'm sure it was a good business decision. But it's purpose was better served by more people seeing it.

Fiorina and Rand Paul have both said that they don't want to make it illegal for people on terrorist watch lists to get guns, because they sometimes put people on that list by mistake. I mean come the [expletive] on. Better to let people on terrorist watch lists get guns than have a few extra people be accidentally restricted?

It's a stupid catch-22; they don't want people realizing they're on a watch list, so they can't be blocked from buying a gun because you could only do that by making up something on their record, and that would likely tip them off something is up.

It's the logical continuation of "owning a gun is a fundamental right."

Which itself is an utterly crazybuckets stance, but that's where the problem lies.

Dude spends a ton of time online ranting about women or the government or whatever on 4chan and the like and goes out with a legal weapons and shoots up a bunch of people.

Dude spends a bunch of time online communicating with terrorist types before going out with legal weapons and shooting up a bunch of people.

Which one of these is supposed to be so much more terrifying and why? It's depressing how quickly any gun talk in the media instantly shut off the moment this became "foreign terrorism." If the end result is an American fostering his special stew of rage and hatred and then ultimately boiling over and shooting a bunch of people with weapons he got legally, why is one supposed to be so much worse than the other? The victims of this mass shooting are EXTRA dead, I guess.

You would think they would at least debate Obama's reason for not saying that Muslim terrorists aren't actually Muslim, but instead they keep asking the question

Because there's nothing to legitimately debate; it's something pushed by idiots who get rigid at the moronic idea of some kind of completely unrealistic war between Christianity/the West and Islam. In their minds practically every Muslim is a potential threat, and anybody who doesn't descend to that kind of moronic rhetoric is just some kind of secret Muslim coddling terrorists or some such nonsense. Anyone with two functioning brain cells knows that DAESH and their ilk see themselves as religiously driven or mandated, so it should be painfully obvious that the only reason someone wants to hear the president "admitting" that they're [expletive] up Muslims is because it validates their own fear and hatred of almost any Muslim.

Precisely this.

I have a conservative friend whose two biggest rants about politics right now are this and the focus on climate change as a national security concern.

To him, it's simple. Deport all the muslims.

Yeah, I've seen a number of people running with the standard GOP criticism of Obama's climate change rhetoric to the point that they're basically saying this happened BECAUSE he's "too focused" on climate change, like a president is supposed to be some kind of simple dolt who can only work on one thing at a time.

Though given the currently candidate field, maybe that IS the best they can hope for.

The woman who helped her husband kill 14 people at a holiday banquet for his county co-workers pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and its leader on Facebook using an alias, then deleted the messages before the attack, a U.S. law enforcement official said Friday, providing the strongest evidence to date that the rampage may have been a terrorist attack.

Because unlike you and your fellow knuckle-draggers, the President of the United States is the most powerful person on the face of the earth. He can't guess at motives. He can't speculate. He is smart enough to let the law enforcement investigation run its course. You mouth breathers have thought it's funny to mess up his name or question his birthplace. Some can't deal with a black man in charge.
