NFL Week 16

Postby soccer10k » Thu Dec 24, 2015 10:17 pm

Pretty weird sequence of events.

Chargers attempting a FG on 4th and 25 and make it. However, the Raiders were called for defensive holding which gave San Diego an automatic first down (a ridiculous rule on a FG seeing as the offense isn't actually trying to gain yards). Chargers end up not gaining any yards and attempt another field goal from the same spot and miss it. They also had a near TD right after the penalty that was correctly overturned because the ball hit the ground as the Charger receiver was going to the ground.

Not a Raider fan, but that sequence there was fun to watch.

Play stopped because a Raider fan was holding a flag over the play clock and then when told to remove it, he tells the entire viewing audience he's number one.

The Raiders got two holding penalties in the span of three plays when the Chargers were only rushing 3 guys. One of the two was a player who was getting double teamed and still drew a holding penalty.

Lots of disappointed 12s and pack fans here in Maui

So because KC has already won and owns tiebreakers over the Jets and Steelers, they've already clinched a playoff spot while Denver - which has a better record and hasn't played this week - has yet to clinch a spot.

Insane that a team that was once 1-5 be the 3rd
team in the conference to clinch a spot (and not a [expletive] 8-7 team winning a horrible division either)

Green bay being in line for a 2 seed until this game shows how mediocre the NFC is. The Packers really aren't good at all.

Chiefs are going to win the division and flame out in spectacular fashion in the first round.

NFL Week 16

It doesn't make any sense at all for Rodgers to still be in there down 30 points. Watching the game, Rodgers is being tattooed on just about every other play.

McCarthy always gets away with this kind of stuff. Not that I'm hoping for a Rodgers injury, but one of these days he's got to lose one of these gambles.

The AFC, meanwhile, will pit Brandon Weeden, Alex Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brock Osweiler and AJ McCarron against the Patriots for a Super Bowl bid.

My team will almost certainly have to beat 2 of Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and Carson Palmer to get there. This strikes me as lame.

Win 1 week and 1 game to go, the Colts are still alive for a playoff spot. But they have a 0.03% chance of making the playoffs (roughly 1 in 3300 chance).

They get in with the following scenario:

DEN over CIN
IND over TEN
JAX over HOU
BAL over CIN
DEN over SD
BUF over NYJ
ATL over NO
OAK over KC
MIA over NE
PIT over CLE

Rodgers and the Packers are barely a threat to mediocre teams at this point. It's an easy win for the Panthers unless they decide to suck.

Beat the Bucs at home next week, and you've got to like the chances much better of playing a home game in the NFC championship, even if it's Arizona.

You're right it's not a fair balance between the NFC and AFC, but there is a winnable path to the Super Bowl for the Panthers. I'm not feeling a whole lot of sympathy for you :-)

Yeah, outside of Arizona, the rest of the NFC is trash too. I suppose you can include Seattle in there, but they had no excuse to lose that game yesterday to a bad Rams team and they did.
