I feel as though he's been brought up in multiple trade threads. But seeing as there's some actual smoke here, it should have its own thread.
He's been healthy and productive for almost 2 1/2 seasons after being left for dead. So far, he's put together a 1.9 WAR. It's easy for people to go crazy in terms of potential return. And if you look at the Facebook thread attached to this, plenty of them are.
My starting offer would be Dan Vogelbach and Daury Torrez.
And I'm sure that a lot of you laughing and desperately searching the web for gifs and memes. But using as a template the package that we got for a guy who was at the time, one of the best starting pitchers in the NL, and with a 3.5 WAR to back it up, Ryan Dempster, it's not that unrealistic.
Sure, the return was a bit of a disappointment following the Delgado fiasco. But the blocked, fringe top 100 prospect and little known but intriguing young pitching prospect was a very good return for the front end but non-elite rental.
Yeah, Dempster was 35 at the time and Kazmir 31, but when talking about a healthy and productive 2 month rental, does that really make a difference?
