I really need this to be signed, sealed, and delivered so I can get my jersey.
During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

There are a few reasonable fans, but the majority are doing all sorts of mental acrobatics trying avoid reconciling with the notion that Heyward simply wanted to be somewhere else. And their media is playing right into it.

Hochman is a native St. Louisan and went to Mizzou, so he's not exactly objective. He's one of them. Bernie Miklasz' piece was much more level headed, which he's always had to be and gotten the hell criticized out of himself for it over the years. Hochman actually replaced him at the Post-Dispatch recently.

I will never forget Heyward's first at bat versus the Cubs.

No doubt rocket home run off Zambrano.. It sounded like a gun shot. (It may have been first ML at bat)

Soler's was just as "rocketed" and every bit "gun shot". I was eating lunch when that glorious dong was launched (Soler, not Heyward).

median projection of what? no bother, keep fighting the good fight of making sure nsbb doesn't get too excited about the long term prospects of a team that controls >75% of its' 2016 projected WAR for 3 yrs or more

but anyway, that's irrelevant. the original point was your response to david's tongue-in-cheek ribbing was transparently vapid and lazy garbage. quit trying to distract me with your crap racket, turdfather

i was curious, so i looked; since 1990, mlb teams have mounted 3 or more consecutive playoff appearances 21 times. we're almost constantly in the midst of multiple teams doing this. that obviously doesn't account for teams that qualify for 2 years, skip a year, then make it 1 or 2 more and all the variations therein. 3/4, 4/5 ain't too shabby. anecdotal and apropos of nothing really, just thought i'd look since the topic of sustained playoff qualification was touched on

While cards' fans outrageous, hateful, racist tweets tend to grab the spotlight, I feel that the sanctimonious, self-important "defenders of the virtues of baseball" tweets are truly the best:

The question was "every year."

Now, there's some room for interpretation what that means because it obviously literally doesn't mean forever. But the odds of you defining it as "3 in a row, or 3/4, or 4/5" if you were being intellectually honest are about zero. As usual, the only point you are trying to make is some kind of dumb, generic aggression.

A question was directed at me, I answered it with a simple and straightforward answer, and you've turned this into so kind of weirdo crusade.

sick takedown of that footnote that i qualified as being meaningless and neither evidence nor justification of anything

I'm curious to see if Baez will be put in Center Field and Heyward kept in right. Jason Heyward's proven elite corner range should take some of the pressure off Baez's Outfield transition. And from various reports it seems as though Soler has generated more trade interest than Baez. So Soler could then be dealt for quality rotation help.

Also if Heyward's traditional struggles against lefties carry into 2016 will Maddon dare bench his highest paid player against above average left handers. Or will Heyward's elite range be deemed worth the likelihood of a poor offensive outing.

Since so much of Heyward's value is range it would seem that giving him occasional days off, against quality lefties, would be a worthwhile gamble. Come August and September, when players tend to wear down, I would imagine that range and base running prowess would be the first skills to decline. That would make Heyward a whole lot less valuable.
