yeah, between having to console his bawling wife and then at the end saying that after some thought he's "ok with it" he didn't sound crazy about it

guess he doesn't realize the dong show he's about to witness roll the national league.

Eh, it's always got to be tough to leave the team that drafted you and you came up with. The Cubs are projected to be damn good, but the Yankees are always the Yankees even when they're not so hot, and leaving NYC even for a city like Chicago can't help but seem like a downgrade.

They'll win him over with the magic shows and dongs and petting zoos, though. And the winning. All of the sweet, sweet winning.

It's probably just me projecting, but he looks so sad.
Also, is that his Cubs batting helmet sitting to his left?

Down with megathreads.
During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

I wonder if he even read that before it was published.

Thanks for the memories Starlin. Good luck in New York.

Incredible letter by Starlin. He really did grow up before our eyes. A class act.

I'm really excited that we're going to be a winning franchise. But Theo is also ruthless.

It's almost difficult to believe he wrote it.

There is no way he wrote that. But a nice enough read. I hope he does well in New York.

Guessing he said some stuff along the lines of what was in the letter and someone wrote it for him.

Maybe. I do know several people with poor spoken English who are excellent writers. It's not like it was particularly well-written as is and it was posted by a publication that has an editorial staff vs. on his his instagram or something, so I think it's possible that it wasn't ghostwritten.

For me it was less of a language thing and more that I doubt any athlete actually wrote it when something like that comes out.

Now I'm curious -- why not?
