On it's own? Yellow with a few brown spots. In cereal? The same, or with a fee more brown spots. Using in a smoothie or making something like banana bread or pancakes? Mostly brown and a super mushy banana.
Any green whatsoever is unacceptable. Ugh.

As soon as it's reasonably soft
Re: when is a banana perfectly ready to eat?
I prefer the starchy, astringent character of a half-green banana. I realize this makes me an irredeemable monster.
Re: when is a banana perfectly ready to eat?
It should have a decent number of brown spots. That's the right zone.

The only time it's okay to eat a banana with any green on it is if you are stuck on a deserted island and it's your only food source

bananas are awesome as soon as the green is almost all gone all the way to the point when there's a few brown spots.
Banana bread is also awesome but anything banana flavored sucks balls.

I'm with Bob, brown means it's good for banana bread, and that's about it.

Oh, and banana laffy taffy's and banana runts are awesome. Had a friend that hates banana laffy taffy's give me a whole bag of them that him and his gf wouldn't eat. It was the best day.

I throw them in the garbage, and would do it in front of you.

Agreed. For me it's totally a texture thing. They get mealy once they get too ripe and are good for nothing but smoothies and banana bread.
I like beer.

at work sometimes my boss will get candy during the super busy times. i guess it's because we haven't gotten a real raise in 5 years or something. anyway, she got laffy taffy one time and everyone in the office except for myself and one other girl ate completely around the banana until there were only banana left. it is safe to say i was shocked.

Mealy and flavorful > firm, filmy texture of flavorless unripe banana
