i listened to that this afternoon. soooooo good. probably my favorite so far.

I'm going to have to check out Superego; I've only heard a few episodes, but apparently they had a ton of shows like this one.

From what I've listened to it's much more sketch-based as opposed to freeform like the Earwolf shows (still mostly improv, but not usually with the interview format). Each episode has 5-6 segments/sketches, but apparently guys like Paul F. Tompkins and James Adomian and Andy Daly are all over them playing their characters.

For example:

the conversation about whether these killings are random enough to avoid premeditated murder is the best thing i've ever heard

it's bad now, but just wait. daly was teasing that next week was special since it's the same week as the premiere of review. that's got to be the don dimello episode, right? what are the odds that it's the best podcast you've ever heard? 50/50?

Well, since apparently Marissa Wompler is actually going to be on the Don Dimello episode, yes, the odds are pretty damn good.

Though it's kinda weird that the first time I can remember noticing Andy Daly it was when he was sporting a creepy boner on Eastbound & Down.

I'm listening to the Gillian Jacobs episode and it's barely funny.

It's only funny if I listen to four hours of build-up? That's a classic sign of great comedy.

When the show does ongoing storylines with its characters, yes. If you're willing to not be Kyle you can start here:

http://www.earwolf.com/episode/words-with-friends/

Though the Garry & Gillian stuff starts here:

Kyle isn't going to like the marriage, divorce, infidelity humor with that storyline.

I listened to an hour of the words with friends ep, and it was alright, ish. Like, if that was a college radio comedy show I'd think "Those guys are pretty good for amateurs."

I'm just going to call it "hipster comedy," because that's a good, all-purpose dismissive adjective that doesn't really mean anything.

IT'S HERE.

I had to be out the door ridiculously early today, so listening to this half-crazed from lack of sleep on the Red Line at 5:45 AM in a train filled with maniacs seemed appropriate.

Three most horrifying things:

Don is Baha'i.

Nipple-pubes.

The bag full of sandwiches.

i always like adomian, but words cannot describe the disappointment that was firing up the podcast app and seeing anything besides "oh golly, pt 2" as the new comedy bang bang.
