Re: Music Thread 2.0

I've stumbled across my first bit of Library Music in this collection that is making me go "I know this song from somewhere!" and I can't place it and it's driving me horsefeathering bonkers, so here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/home/Dumpster%20Vinyl/Rouge?preview=John+Hyde+-+New+Outlook...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

When you want to gain weight, there's really only one mantra to live by: Pizza in the morning Pizza in the evening Pizza at supper time You'll get a little pudgy that way, but you need to down a 12 pack of beer to really pack on the pounds in a hurry. Clearly, you've never lost 100 pounds and then ...

This Kevin Mather story is pretty big. Feel like it should have its own thread, or at least open up the discourse in the "never side with ownership" thread

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

that said, i had a hidden motive to the screening choice. i re-watched the movie a couple of months ago and when it was over, i thought to myself, "i think that might be the perfect movie". obviously, a subjective judgment is being made here, but the thought was haunting me. how could i e...

Dumpster Vinyl update: Finally got a turntable. Picked up a Sony PS-LX310BT, does Bluetooth AND USB connection so I can rip albums as well as play them anywhere in the house. Got it on an open box special from Best Buy for $40 off, too. Score.

Already in love with this thing and these records.

Re: Should we talk about the weather? (Hi-hi-hi!)

This winter storm [expletive] sucks and everything, but still being indoors because of COVID makes it a little more bearable, except on days like today when I need to take my pup to the vet which is a 6-block, 20 minute walk away and Ubers cost $40 to get there.

we can only assume the master tapes for these recordings are long gone, so the historian in me wants you to create digital copies of the records like john maloof dutifully scanning vivian maier's photographs We are looking into a turntable that can digitize as well. We've got some records that are ...

Final tally: 928 records. We think we might hang onto them for a little bit, maybe figure out something to do with them in regards to sharing them. But we know we want to listen to them so we need to get a turntable. We think when the time comes to sell, we may consign them to Carolina Soul, a reput...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

A Ghost Story would've been a great episode of television, but as a movie it just drags, IMO. The latter part of it was interesting in a "this is a cool take on the afterlife" perspective, but I absolutely could not loathe the Rooney Mara stuff more than I already do. It was such a slog t...

I don't think I've ever hated a movie in theaters more than I hated A Ghost Story. I could say Spawn is up there too, but admittedly when I was a kid I enjoyed it. I was also only like 8 years old when I saw Dances With Wolves so naturally I hated it. My Dad also bought be a king size Nestle Crunch ...

We're aware, our collector buddy is guiding us pretty well. It comes down to two things, do we want to spend the time to piece it out and maximize profits, or save time and accept a decent amount, if not under market value, of coin for the convenience of getting rid of it. We're still debating.

My Dad is a hardcore Republican. Had a bad experience a couple of years back when we had a family reunion of sorts. Pretty much my entire family is Republican, but my Dad and Uncle were antagonizing me with literal fake news, saying horsefeathers like "Trump got North Korea to denuclearize"...
