Re: 80 game season with expanded playoffs, starting in July

I know this is putting the cart before the horse until they can figure out the financials, but are they really going to try to play an 82-game season in about 86 days?

Re: Floyd. That was an incredibly weak draft. Only 2 of the next 10 picks after Floyd were starters for the team that drafted them in 2019. The guys that were clearly much better picks than Floyd - Prescott, Michael Thomas, Tyreek Hill, etc - were picked so far after Floyd, it’s hard to blame the Be...

Lukewarm take: the Bucs pass for less yards and TDs under Brady than under Winston.

But turn over the ball 25 fewer times and have a winning record.

There's defense but there's also Coors. I'll take the over on 1.000 OPS for KB as a Rockie. i hate how Nolan starts to make me feel ok about losing Bryant. Then I think about Bryant providing many many bombs in CO, and I hate it even more I think the whole point for Colorado is to flip Bryant for p...

Re: NL DH by 2021?

I don’t like the DH. I don’t like that the two leagues play by different rules even less. It was easier to ignore before inter-league play. I think a designated pinch hitter hybrid approach would be more fun and interesting, but I don’t think baseball’s top people are creative enough to make that wo...

nothing seems more inevitable than him to the Cardinals for a couple of, to quote Blake Snell, slapdick prospects Hopefully their tight assness keeps them from adding him. A little more foresight by ownership/Theo would've been nice, specifically before inking those Chatwood and Kimbrel deals. Like if this isn't just about Marquee being a flop, how was this not handled better before ending up with the plan of trading Bryant. Exactly, the CBA has been in place for 3 y...

Wait, are we trading Bryant to some non-MLB entity? Is there an agreement to have no one offer him a contract in two years when his team control is up? Trading him now so that they don't have to look cheap for not paying him in 2 years. Also some nonsense about how they tried really hard to get him...

A Robles centric package skews towards an acceptable deal to me vs some of the more pitching/prospect ones that have been thrown around. https://twitter.com/jonheyman/status/1205228326392086529?s=21 You can almost squint and see a way in which a Robles-centered deal makes some sort of baseball sense.

Maddux was coming off 3 seasons of 5.1, 5.8, and 7 fWAR when he hit free agency at age 26. And, since he wasn't a high strikeout guy, I'll throw in that his bWAR in 92 was a Trout-ian 9.1. What really made letting him walk after 92 extra egregious, though, was the fact that he came back to the Cubs...

Maddon was shocked to discover Albert Almora wasn't the answer for leadoff......or much else of use, really. Was it Maddon making the best roster he could? Or was it Maddon making a “You put this crap on my roster” type of statement by leading off the position player with the worst OBP on the team?...
