$17M for a 32-year old starting pitcher who hasn’t topped 130 innings in any of the last 6 seasons seems a bit steep.

I’m just suggesting asset that Astros want (starting pitcher or outfielder) + big contract that somewhat fits into Astros’ roster (starting pitcher or outfielder) in return for something with a smaller contract than what the Cubs traded.

Re: The 2018-2019 Cubs Offseason Rumors & Discussion Thread - "On wrongs swift vengeance waits..."

Astros a decent salary dump trade partner? They just lost McCullers to TJS. Verlander and Cole are their only other returning starting pitchers and they’re both FA’s after 2019. They’ve got a few promising rookies and can move Peacock back from the pen, but that’s not a particularly impressive start...

Is he going to be the first pitcher since Dave Dravecky whose arm literally falls off his body while pitching?

If Hamels’ option isn’t picked up, or maybe even if it is, young, buy-low, change of scenery candidate starting pitchers:

Stroman, Fulmer, Bundy.

Z was a 4.5 WAR a year pitcher for 8 years and then basically got drummed out of the league at age 31 for being a head case. I don’t know how Theo/Joe would have handled him differently, but I guarantee they would have handled him better.

Re: Week 1: Bears @ Stupid Cheeseheads 7:20pm NBC

Right. I don’t think it can be overstated how “all-in” the Bears’ front office have gone with Trubisky. They’ve basically banked the next three years and their jobs on him being worth the 2nd pick of the draft. They cashed in every bit of developmental wiggle room with the Mack trade. They can’t go ...

Schedule plays a role in it too. The Dodgers have a significantly easier remaining SoS, while the Rockies and DBacks are tied for the toughest remaining SoS in the League per Fangraphs. All told, they predict the Dodgers finishing 14-8 and the Rocks and DBacks both finishing 11-12. I think the diffe...

How many pitchers drafted in the supplemental and later rounds of the draft since 2012 should realistically be contributing to a playoff caliber team? I counted. The number of players drafted with the 31st and later pick of the draft since 2012 who have contributed at least 1 bWAR to one of the 13 t...

it's kind of worrying that the only remedy we've heard suggested so far is for him to not play baseball. i'd almost feel better if they just said he's going to have surgery in the offseason.
