Re: Cubs trade Eloy, Cease, others for Quintana

Well at least we didn't trade an odds on favorite to win the MVP at age 21 for the ghost of James Shields.

Back to medieval times baby!

It has kind of a FF12 feel, but seems a bit darker like Type O. Regardless, I'll definitely be buying.

How much must Foles suck if he can’t beat this guy out

I'm trying to convince myself it's just because the camp was so short.

I don't know exactly why, maybe it's a mix of things, but besides checking the box scores, my interest in baseball is really waning. It certainly doesn't help that the team is run by a bunch of ghouls I refuse to fund.

I'd love to get Dylan Bundy depending on what the Cubs get out of Quintana. He's showing improved command this year and throwing his hittable fastball a lot less.

Can the Cubs refuse to play them? It seems ridiculous to make them put their health and season on the line. Especially with more positives likely coming in the next few days.

Reading that brought back a lot of memories. The tracheotomy, severe peripheral neuropathy, weeks of zero memories yet you were interacting with people, and above all slowly coming to accept the reality of what happened. Good on him for pulling through and sharing the story.

Recent pictures of him are pretty shocking at how thin and weathered he has become. I think there's something very bad happening with him outside of baseball.

I spent February of 2019 in the ICU of 3 different hospitals after being given a 1% chance to make it following coding for 4 minutes, then ECMO and then sepsis. I spent March relearning to swallow, speak, sit up, raise my arms above my head and eventually stand with assistance. I spent April learnin...

Due to the removal of elective surgeries, my sister's hospital is crying poor. So to reduce their expenses they have decided it's a good idea to remove everyone's annual raise, cancel all 401k matching and refuse all hazard pay. Needless to say, many are planning to relocate as soon. As feasible.

And that asking price is how you end up with nothing but a draft pick after wasting his value on two years of a very marginal baseball team. That's a possible outcome. It's also a way to not end up trading Kris Bryant for some other contender's spare pre-injured arms and A ballers because of some o...

Well yeah, that should be the case when entertaining the idea of trading a possible future HOFer in his prime

there's no way in hell dinelson lamet was a primary piece of interest in a KB deal Why not? There's a substantial amount of hype around him this year as a prime breakout candidate. Outside of Paddack and Tatis, who certainly wouldn't be available, he's the most valuable mlb trade piece they have. L...

I understand hurting your arm/shoulder while pitching, because it's not a natural movement, but damn Morrow gets hurt just existing.

So I'm at work when the receptionist, who happens to be my boss's sister, comes into my office and says she has to speak with me. She walks me back to the restroom and asks me to read a sign on the wall where one of the rules is putting the toilet seat down. She then gives me a brief lecture all the...

Re: Potential Kris Bryant trade thread

Is playing a bunch of 26-28 YO All Stars and MVP candidates really not a way for the Cubs to capitalize on the value of their assets though? Like it seemed all off-season there was a gap between their value on the field v a trade and the winner wasn't their trade value. Since most are under control...

Also worth noting that last season from June 16 and on he batted: .270/.332/.493 with a low BABIP. There might still be something there. His LD, Flyball and hard contact rates all jumped over his career numbers during that period and GB rate dropped below his career numbers too. Also appears he too...

Re: Potential Kris Bryant trade thread

Worst case scenario for me. You don't maximize Bryant, Contreras, etc trade value , instead pretending that an 84 win team that has only gotten worse is a WS contender. Either add to the team or capitalize on your asset's value, don't run out mediocrity hoping that various things break right.
