Re: Trade targets 2019

I mean, I'd love to unload junk on Baltimore. Let's just offer Russell and some of our AAA arms for Givens and Villar and see what happens. I don't get the intense love for Castellanos. He's an OK bat and a terrible fielder and he'd be a rental. He mashes left handed pitching on a team that has str...

Re: RE: Re: Trade targets 2019

Leury Garcia isn't good. wRC+ of 92, before this season he has had one year with a fWAR > 0 and that was 1.2. He's actually making less hard contact this year than last. I'd rather gamble on Happ then deal for Garcia. Marte is the only desirable CF option available. That contract makes it hard to l...

Don't want that scum bag on my team.

Oh is he a terrible person?

Well, in my opinion at least, he completely intentionally trucked Lucroy giving him a broken nose and a concussion.

God I hope his arm stays attached, if he can throw in back to back days he'd be a great answer to the need for a lefty reliever this year and beyond.

Well when 53 MLB guys are on pace for 30+ HR in 2019 compared to 27 in 2018, I'm not even surprised anymore.

So it has now been a full month since Rizzo last hit a HR and going all the back to June 1st his SLG is .438. I know the OBP is still there, but I'm starting to get a bit worried here.

Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

As far as the trade itself goes, lots of folks have made these thoughts, but in no particular order: - Contreras might be out for an extended period, although early reports are this is unlikely - Caratini might be on his way out the door in another trade, which would be good business, IMO - Maldona...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-19

Might have gotten mentioned elsewhere, but two home runs from Happ tonight. Him starting to finally hit well is a terrific thing in advance of trade season. I'm more interested in having a potential Almora replacement since the trade market is pretty much lacking in any interesting CFers not named ...

Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

Unless Caratini is on the move or Contreras is primarily going to the OF I just don't get it at all. With as weak as this bench is already they simply can't afford to roster 3 catchers, especially when one is of the no hit variety. There's already enough offensive black holes. Not to mention that it...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

It is inconceivable that Lance Lynn is on pace for 8 fwar Yeah he has a fantastic FIP(2.86), but xFIP and SIERA don't like him nearly as much(3.75 and 3.80). He's actually giving up more Hard and Med contact this year than last, but his BB/9 is the best of his career(2.07). Having a very nice year,...

zero interest in Sogard. His peripherals say he's going to regress pretty hard. No need to add Descalso after replacing Descalso.

I don't see a great the case for Hoerner as a top 50 prospect either, but it would be convenient to see him on one or two. If he did, I suspect alot of it would be on the Cubs' history of first round college bats. Law hits the nail on the head harping on the tools and missed games/reps in the wider...

Speaking of Gurriel, Yuli has been on a ridiculous tear too. Since June 23, a streak of 11 games and 49PA, he has put up a .400/.449/1.0167 line with 9HR.

Really not sure what Peralta does for the Cubs. Heyward getting pushed to CF would be a huge defensive liability and with Peralta's shoulder injury who knows if he'd even be able to play a capable RF.

So sick of the Nolan Gorman hype. An all bat guy who is likely headed for 1B and hasn't hit in damn near a year but he's talked about among the elite prospects in the game.

Since his promotion from rookie league

438PA .224/.317/.411 with 15HR and a 30.4K%

Re: Trade targets 2019

At this point if they're going to invest heavily in 1 of the 3, I'd rather do so for a hitter or a SP than a stud reliever. Just give me a quality loogy and that's good enough for me.
