Re: Trade targets 2019

I'd really love Howie Kendrick and he should be fairly cheap; snag him and add Will Smith then hope for the best.

Re: The Cardinals

In perhaps one of the more baffling promotions I've seen in a while, the Cardinals have decided to promote 20 year old Nolan Gorman from A to A+. Gorman hasn't exactly torn up A ball, posting a .199/.323/.348 line since May 1st, a span of 192PAs. He's also striking out 29.2% of the time.

I think they move Davis along relatively slowly. I'd guess it's 50/50 he sees A+ at all this year.

Re: Edwin Encarnacion Traded to Yankees

I feel like this is an example of the competitive advantage the AL teams have in acquiring players. Cubs could have given up a Cory Abbott or whatever comparable pitcher and used Edwin to mash some dongs, but since they have Rizzo at first there's no spot for him. Bring the DH to the NL, get rid of...

Perhaps the best pitching prospect in the minors, Casey Mize pulled after 23 pitches. His last pitch 85mph. Not looking good.

Re: If your Dr said going vegan would add 15 years to your life...

I've started to think that, outside of extreme cases, it's just genetics. I've known people who smoked a pack a day and drank hard liquor for 60 years and they still made it into their mid 80s while I've known others who were all about exercising and closely monitoring every meal and they drop dead ...

Can we stop trying to destroy the farm? I'd rather not have to wait the better part of a decade to be competitive again after 2021.

Re: The Cardinals

Their extensions have been absolute nightmares so far. 36 year old Molina is making $20M this year and $20M in 2020 while putting up an 82 wRC+. 33 year old Matt Carpenter is due $18.5M in 2020 and another $18.5M in 2021 with a 2022 option of $18.5M while providing a 97 wRC+ so far this year. 33 yea...

Re: NL Central: Vaunted Defending Champion Brewers and others

So is there a large enough sample size in the season to call these numbers suspicious? Yelich’s splits: Home: 17HR, .395 AVG, 1.092 SLG Away: 5 HR, .250 AVG, .464 SLG I looked into the splits for most of their starters and almost all actually have more homers and higher slugging on the road this se...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-7-19

Alzolay's K/BB ratio is outstanding; his WHIP, too. It'll be interesting to see what he can do for Chicago this year... Hopefully he wont be a trade asset for a LH reliever . I feel pretty safe in saying Alzolay is probably the least likely piece to be moved on the farm, simply because someone is g...

So I'm pretty shocked not a single HS player has been taken. I suppose the good news is that in another year or two we wont have to trade our prospects for relievers anymore.

Pretty happy with that Card pick. I don't think that arm has much chance of holding up to a starter workload.

Re: Nico: Hairline fracture, out at least another month

Good to see we have some synergy going up and down the organization from the majors to the minors with misdiagnosing injuries To be fair to the Cubs, I wouldn't necessarily call this a "misdiagnosis" because hairline fractures can be very difficult to discover. Sometimes a person doesn't ...

And, if you don't mind being asked/answering, what the heck is the billing/insurance like for something like that? In response to one of the posts, I'm 36 now. As far as insurance goes, I thank God I have excellent coverage because I'm sure my total bill would have been nearly a million dollars bet...
