Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-15-17

BA just published an article on Maples Anybody got a sub and can post it? If you're talking about the "Bountiful Crop" article from the 14th, there really isn't much there. Here's the entirety of the Maples part. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/dillon-maples-typifies-cubs-pitching-d...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Damn, Fowler, Kaprelian and Mateo for Gray. That's a nice haul for Oakland. At the same time, Yanks held onto Frazier, Gleybar, Sheffield and others. Yeah, I think Oakland got robbed. Two broken prospects and a third that can't hit. Kaprelian is coming off TJS, and Fowler is coming off that horribl...

Re: Cubs Acquire Justin Wilson & Alex Avila for Candelario, Paredes & PTBNL/Cash

The consensus at Brewerfan.net is mostly satisfaction that they've forced the Cubs into making another "desperate" move and trading away another Top 5 prospect. Someone should remind them of the following: 1. Candelario kinda sucks. Don't be fooled by his prospect status. 2. We have plent...

Looks like it's not only forum posters anymore. St.Louis is turning on Dexter; it's a shame, he deserves better.

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Athletics are prioritizing young center fielders in trade talks for Sonny Gray. As such, Morosi hears that the Athletics have interest in Yankees prospect outfielder Estevan Florial, who has enjoyed a breakout year with Class A Charleston and recently play...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Correct me if I'm wrong, but picking up Verlander would effectively mean we're out on Otani before it even happens right? Lester still has 4 years, Quintana 3, Verlander 3 and Hendricks only hitting arb 1. I guess I could see them leaving Montgomery in the bullpen, but to spend another 200M on top o...

Hopefully if they did trade for Darvish it would be with the intent of extending him before he hit FA.

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

30M was what I was saying for Darvish alone, Q and Teheran are locked in at 8.85 and 8 respectively. Bryant + Russell + Hendricks are all arb 1, Bryant is the only one with a chance at 7 million. This year's payroll isn't a hard ceiling either. I'm not saying they'd fit it in with 15 million to spa...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

When a team is actively shopping for pitchers like the Braves and then openly selling another there's not a lot of ways you can spin that in the positive for the guy getting sold. Marketing ploy...They have probably the best farm in the league, if they actually were buyers they'd buy. Teams are cop...

Re: The Cardinals

If Card's talk is any indication, the Dexter Fowler hate from the St.Louis fandom is absolutely brutal. Let's hope the FO over there feels the same way. I'd love to take Dex back if St.Louis ate some money.

Re: The Cardinals

29 year old journeyman Tommy Pham is having himself one hell of a year so far. He's posting a .311/.398/.530 line in 254PAs to go with 12HR and 12SB. He's been worth 2.6fWAR in 62 games which puts him on 6.8fWAR pace over a 162 game season.

I would much rather give a contract to someone like Cobb/Lynn in the off season than give up any kind of talent for Teheran.

Re: Nats trade for Doolittle and Madson

That's a pretty underwhelming return. My first thought too. I think this was a smart trade for Was, and not a great return for Oak also. Why didn't they wait till closer to the trade deadline? Were they that worried that Doolittle would get hurt again ? S. Doolittle, when healthy, is very good. Obv...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

So it probably can't be done during the season, but what does it cost to bring Archie Bradley over from Arizona? He's still just 24 and absolutely killing it in the bullpen to the tune of a 1.50ERA 2.34FIP 2.77xFIP 10.71K/9 1.71BB/9. I'd love to have him as a #5 in 2018.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-14-17

2/3 with a double and a walk for Paredes so far. There's some shot he's done tonight. If so his season line sits at .274/.361/.424 with a K rate somewhere between 13-14% as an 18 YO playing SS in full season ball. Gd I <3 that 2015 IFA group, they really made it easy to not even flinch over yesterd...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

So just for scenario's sake, say the Cubs get Gray. They then have a full rotation of Lester,Quintana,Gray,Hendricks,Montgomery for 2018. They also have I believe roughly 65M coming off the books, minus the 10M for quintana and another roughly 15-20M for ARB 1 on Baez,Bryant,Russell,Hendricks and th...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

sometimes it actually is good to keep one of your best players Not when that player is only under contract for a couple more months and can be used to immediately fill a hole in the rotation for the next 6 to 7 years. Yeah, you can definitely rely on some random prospect to do that. Nothing is a gu...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

1) We're not going to be 8-9 down at the end of the month 2) Think of the comparison this way: What Cubs players would you trade for a Brewer at the same position? and yet here we are more than half of the way into this season 5.5gb and closer to last place in the division than 1st place. They just...
