Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Otani

Is there any sense regarding how much he wants to keep hitting? Would an AL team that could DH him when he's not pitching have an advantage in signing him? if he pitched for an AL team, would you have him bat in that game or have someone else DH for him? If he was in the lineup as a pitcher and als...

Re: The Cardinals

I enjoy that the article leads you to believe the Cardinals have their wave of prospects that's going to lead them to the promise land but forget to mention that the Cubs have another wave coming and they're all more highly regarded.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-21-17

Man it would be cool if Butler stays sharp at AAA and could be poised as a viable, desirable option for the Cubs to get on a decent mid-level contract for the next few years. It really would be great, because then you're going into 2018 looking like Lester,Hendricks,Mongomery,Butler and that open s...

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

I wonder what it would take to get a few months of Masahiro Tanaka? He has the option to opt out of the remaining 3/64 he has on his contract and the Yankees have been very clear that they don't intend to resign him when the time comes. I think he could be a reasonable stop gap for this season while...

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

So the Blue Jays keep losing and Donaldson keeps hurting his calf. Their 3B depth chart is currently 1) Darwin Barney 2)Chris Coghlan, and their first baseman (Justin Smoak) also sucks. I wonder if they have interest in Candelario and what type of value he has. They're last in the MLB in runs and h...

Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Otani

I swear to god they make up these [expletive] rules to screw with Theo. He comes to the Cubs and suddenly the slotting system takes over making it so he can't grab throws wads of money at high ceiling prospects that other teams couldn't afford like he doing in Boston. So he decides he's going to go...

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

How fast does Houston try to pry away Quintana? Do they wait until the ASB? Unless the White Sox come down drastically on their rumored asking price (Francis Marte,Kyle Tucker and one of Musgrove/Paulino/Fischer/F.Perez/Whitley) then it's never going to happen. I think they're better off just promo...

Re: The Cardinals

Kind of surprised the ball getting stuck on Molina's chest protector from today's game isn't becoming a bigger story. One of two things is obviously happening; #1, the pitcher is adding something to the ball which is fine up to a point, but if he's adding so much that it's adhereing to a flat surfac...

Re: Opening Day Minor League Rosters

Ooph, that is one boring roster beyond Paredes, Wilson and Cease. I guess the plus on the pitching behind Cease is that there's plenty of size and health among the multiple 2016 draftees on the roster. I'm most interested in Mekkes and Rucker, maybe, but that group is a toss up. College tested Kell...

Met starting pitcher Seth Lugo has a slight tear in his UCL, but will avoid surgery in lieu of the almost never successful platelet rich plasma injection followed by rest. So much for any rotation depth in New York this year.

The Cardinals are going to be paying a catcher over $18 million for his age 37 season.

They are going to be paying Fowler and Molina $35 million.

Come the historic FA class of 2018/2019 I suspect they're going to regret this massively.

I really can't believe Eloy, who hasn't even seen A+, is absolutely mashing the way he is in spring training. In my mind he's not far from being completely unavailable pending some kind of ridiculous overpayment.

So Carter Capps has now added a second hop to his delivery because it wasn't bad enough he was getting away with one.

I like Dewees, I'll be interested in seeing what he becomes. Can anyone tell me a little about Mills? From Stat scouting he definitely controls the strikezone but I don't know much about his stuff. Cubs must have been really down on Dewees. Mills wasn't a top 15 guy in their system, a bottom tier s...

Absolutely love this as a reclamation project, even if it only turns into a pen arm. There's enough there to hope Bosio can turn him into something big.
