Re: Bullpen Options

Jay Jackson, one of my favorites when I first started really paying attention to the system. I was so sure that Jay was going to be a monster and Tony Thomas was going to be our 2B for years to come.

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Britton makes perfect sense for us. He's on a one year deal and falls off the books in time for the 2018 class. Pair him with Morrow and you've got your 2018 closer groomed and ready to take over. The package didn't seem that bad, when Houston almost dealt for him last year. Collin Moran was the le...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

I’d rather just spend money on RP’s than trade for and pay the price it would take to get Britton. Unless somehow like a Happ for Britton and Gausmen or Bundy deal was possible but guessing they’d want more. This. Getting really tired of giving up prospects for pen arms; if you're going to trade do...

I would love if Arietta signed with the Angels. I always kind of root for them for Trout's sake, so it would be nice to see if Jake could help them out.

Re: MLBTR Free Agency Predictions

That's a lot higher of a projection for Cobb than I've seen other than from me . Obv I agree, and pretty much already think of him as a Cub. Those contract numbers floated by MLB Trade Rumors were really bad for Cobb. He's going to get far closer to 100M than he will the 4/48 they suggest. On a sid...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

I'm not going to include Otani in this mock, there's just not anyone with any real information as far as where he wants to go. Secondly, I am going to assume that the Cubs are truly going to make an effort to sign Harper in 2019. Sign Rene Rivera 1/2.5M Sign Carlos Gomez 2/22M Sign Alex Cobb 4/70M S...

Re: College Basketball 2017-2018

5 Simeon recruits in the last 20 years. 0 in the top 50. However will we survive. I don’t like how this played out, it sucks, but let’s not pretend like Simeon was sending us the Rose and Parker’s of the world. And I would think we’d get credit for not only taking, but allowing Jaylon Tate four yea...

Well we don't have anyone even close to Franklin Perez in the minors so I don't see how a trade is feasible. Someone off the MLB team would have to go to compete with that.

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

I was a Verlander proponent at the deadline, but with what's happened in the month since(seizing the Central, Hendricks and Arrieta look great), I'm not sure if there's a ton of benefit to adding him now. He's in good form, but you already have 90+% odds of the division, and in the playoffs you're ...

Damn, Fowler, Kaprelian and Mateo for Gray. That's a nice haul for Oakland. At the same time, Yanks held onto Frazier, Gleybar, Sheffield and others. Yeah, I think Oakland got robbed. Two broken prospects and a third that can't hit. Kaprelian is coming off TJS, and Fowler is coming off that horribl...

Re: Cubs Acquire Justin Wilson & Alex Avila for Candelario, Paredes & PTBNL/Cash

The consensus at Brewerfan.net is mostly satisfaction that they've forced the Cubs into making another "desperate" move and trading away another Top 5 prospect. Someone should remind them of the following: 1. Candelario kinda sucks. Don't be fooled by his prospect status. 2. We have plent...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Correct me if I'm wrong, but picking up Verlander would effectively mean we're out on Otani before it even happens right? Lester still has 4 years, Quintana 3, Verlander 3 and Hendricks only hitting arb 1. I guess I could see them leaving Montgomery in the bullpen, but to spend another 200M on top o...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

30M was what I was saying for Darvish alone, Q and Teheran are locked in at 8.85 and 8 respectively. Bryant + Russell + Hendricks are all arb 1, Bryant is the only one with a chance at 7 million. This year's payroll isn't a hard ceiling either. I'm not saying they'd fit it in with 15 million to spa...
