Re: Addison Russell

Because his wife decided to not cooperate with the investigation and didn't confirm the abuse. Were the Cubs supposed to dump him over a tweet from one of his wife's friends claiming abuse? There wasn't any proof and both parties were denying the allegations last year. This new revelation is a whol...

Re: Addison Russell

I want him off the team, but I'd be okay with suspending him for now and trading him in the offseason. This. Ricketts, Theo, and Jed don't seem like the kind of guys who will sit on their hands and let this one play out. He needs to be gone until this is investigated and let the dust settle where i...

Re: It's Maddoning

Joe seems to have pretty significantly mishandled the pitching staff with his hand-picked pitching coach (see Theo's comments about Morrow). If the Cubs don't make it deep into the postseason what are the chances that his contract is not renewed? Zero Less than Zero. Why is this even a conversation?

Re: Sources: Cubs have a deal in place for Cole Hamels

Hamels was scheduled to pitch Saturday for Texas. I wonder if they slide him into a spot for this weekend in St. Louis or wait until Chatwood's next spot. Chatwood needs to go to the bullpen and leave Monty where he is IMO.

Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

It sounds like KB is horsefeathers up https://twitter.com/carriemuskat/status/1021878076911824896?s=21 He’ll probably have surgery after the season, the way it sounds. I would assume if this was a surgery situation he’d be shut down. The Cubs aren’t the Mets. There's no reason to believe this has e...

Reyes is still young and the medical advancements are improved from 15 years ago but this is certainly looking like the Cardinals version of Mark Prior.

Yeah, it's kind of sad but we all saw it coming. We've had time to prepare. At least he didn't go to the Cardinals like Dexter.

I was more concerned with Jake joining the Nats than the Cardinals, but I'm glad he didn't go to either.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

That's funny you posted that Jay Bell story. Believe it or not, I was actually at that game sitting in the LF bleachers about 20 rows back. I've lived in AZ since 91' and going to a D-Backs game was pretty cool early on in their inception. They made kind of a big deal about the contest prior to the ...

Re: The Cardinals

I for one am thrilled the Cardinals stood pat at the deadline. They kept their mediocre team intact when they could have at least gotten some young prospects for guys like Carp, Lynn, Gyroko, Pham, etc. As far as the Viva article, they are quite high on some of their prospects. Their best prospect, ...

Re: The Cardinals

I feel there is a bit of a silver lining in the recent Cardinal win streak. They are 7-6 since the break, which is decent but nothing special. They are a deeply flawed team outside of their starting pitching. They are slow, not very athletic, terrible defensively, fundamentally unsound, and have a t...

Re: Eddie Butler Starting Friday

I think Maddon and the FO like Monty's arm out of the bullpen for right now. Probably not fair to Monty who I assume would like to start, but he's their only truly reliable LHP other than Koji's splits to LH'ers. If Monty moves to the rotation it would leave just Duensing. This would be very shorts...

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

I'm basically penciling in a Candelario for Marco Estrada swap sometime in June. I'd love a Archer/Quintana/Stroman, but in the end I don't see Theo paying the price. I could live with that deal, not sure Candelario alone would be enough though. You're probably right about the other 3, it would cos...

Greinke is the name that piqued my interest. Some interesting considerations with him but could turn out very well if they line up. Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Interesting article by Buster Olney about the availability of several starters come trade deadline. Not that the Cubs will be in the market for one. Interesting names mentioned, especially Gerrit Cole, I can't really fathom the price tag he would carry but it would start with Eloy at least. Only pit...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Good. It was some petty bull horsefeathers to insinuate. Bad enough you've already got a schmuck like Lackey out there doing the same. I agree but selfishly I don't want to do anything to give Bosio any desire to leave the Cubs. Same, I don't want him going anywhere. I think it's pretty obvious tha...

Re: Kyle Schwarber is Breaking Out

This slump isn't going to last. Odd that his splits aren't much diffent and favor LHP a bit although the LHP sample size is small. I don't think facing LHP'ing is the problem, he's not hitting RHP'ing either right now. He says he's not taking a different approach leading off, his patient eye is ther...

Re: "horsefeathers looks like The Thing" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

Thanks for those numbers David, it's pretty much what I suspected. Kyle's not hurting the team thus far with his defense and is far from a train wreck many predicted he would be, although Rawlings won't be getting any trophies ready with his name on it either. Thus far the eye test tells me that fro...

I curious about Kyle's defensive metrics thus far in 2017. Can one of you guys be so kind and do a little breakdown. I don't know what I'm reading half the time from those spread sheets on Fan Graphs and such. Thanks.

I hear you Duke. Watching the Cardinal choke away games because of their defense, it doesn't get much better than that. The Cardinal announcers were disgusted. Diaz is such a liability at SS, I don't know how much longer than can keep him there instead of moving him to 3rd or 2nd, probably 2nd beca...
