Re: The Cardinals

Carpenter/Gyorko/Wong/Martinez would have to be the worst defensive infield in baseball. Seriously. Could be historically bad. They should go get Machado like now, which I’m kinda fine with them depleting their system even further to do it since I don’t see him signing there. Then when he signs som...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

The engineer who designed the Rangers stadium said it was specifically designed for the ability to add a retractable roof later. The initial costs were much higher to pre-engineer it for a roof.

Edit: Having a hard time finding the article that stated this.

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

I give our front office the benefit of the doubt on just about everything, but if they traded Russell for Machado I’d be pretty upset. I don’t think there is any chance this happens.

Stephen Piscotti's mother died yesterday from ALS and they put up a fundraiser looking for 100k in donations for ALS research. https://www.youcaring.com/alstherapydevelopmentinstitute-1101042 Yu Darvish donated $10k Dang. Checking out the Cubs offensive leader board. Javy leads in every major category but OBP (Bryant) and BB (Schwarber).

Javy has 6 BB. 4 are IBB. His last IBB was April 11. His last non-intentional BB was April 7.

His stats track very closely to my MLB Road to the Show player.

Anything voted on by sportswriters is meaningless to me anyway. However, I do love watching BFIB heads explode when you even question if Molina is the GOAT.

Re: Checking in with the Brew Crew faithful after the 4-game sweep

I feel so bad for Brewers and Pirates fans that I don’t even really get enjoyment out of destroying them, other than the actual winning games/division titles part. To put it another way, I love winning games in the division, but spiking the football isn’t even fun for me when it comes to the Pirates...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

What I love about this team is that the following players have the ability to carry the rest of the offense for week-long stretches:
Bryant
Baez
Rizzo
Schwarber
Russell
Contreras

Really takes the pressure off everybody. Nobody has to be the guy even though many would be for other teams.

We went on vacation once together. My wife has been there many times for both vacations and mission trips. Before the diagnosis we had a trip scheduled for last week to checkout Aguadilla and Rincon and to look for houses. We were going to go to the Tuesday Indians/Twins game. As it turns out the po...

About PR getting a baseball team. I could only see that if Puerto Rico has quite the rally as an island in the next 10-20 years. It’s a long story, but I actually think there are some scenarios where Puerto Rico could do just that. The wife and I were doing a ton of research into moving down there....

Re: Breaking Up Double Plays

I ask because I think I would have them just go straight in every time. And this is from a purely competitive standpoint. Not even talking about injuries. I think over the course of a season you’re likely to give the other team more free outs at first base for accidentally (or in the umpire’s judgem...

Grimm definitely contributed to the NLDS win in 2015. So did Lackey. Probably contributed more to the 2015 NLDS win than the 2016 playoffs. https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/october-2015-javier-baez-hits-a-three-run-homer-off-of-john-lackey-in-picture-id596939120 i screamed loud enough for the w...

I was in Cleveland for work recently and went into the gift shop to look at their Authentics store. You can check the date the little bottles of infield dirt were removed. I noticed like all of them were dates between the 2016 ALCS and World Series. The lady told me MLB had the infield dirt skimmed,...
