Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

I'm sure this name has been brought up and dismissed but....any chance the Giants make Bumgarner available? He'd cost a ton, but two more cheap years after this, and the pieces we seem open to trading (Schwarber, Happ, Baez) allows them to frame it as more of a retool than a rebuild. Their fanbase ...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Pitching in high school, I took a come-backer right on my shoulder. The ball hit me so hard it spun me. I had a whelp from the stitches on the ball.

Re: Bat Flip Thread

You normally look for the pitcher to be demoralized in shots like that. Watch the catcher though, it is hilarious how he slumps to the side.

Re: "horsefeathers looks like The Thing" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

I'm just really bullish on the improvement that Russell made from year one to two and think he will stay at the premium defensive position. Might not matter though with the way Bryant hits. I was just poking at the language/math of saying Russell would be the "best one of the three" when ...

Re: The Cardinals

Did the Cardinals hire Joe Buck and John Smoltz as consultants this season? Run on those Cubs if you want to win the division! Please try Cardinals. I want to see more Javy tags and Contreras back-picks.

Re: Top 108 Moments for the 2016 Cubs (Now at #24)

I'd love to see a highlight video of all the caught-stealing and pickoffs we had in the playoffs. It was hilarious listening to Joe Buck and John Smoltz go on and on about how the other team should constantly steal on us as we continued to pickoff or throw out runners. Heck throw in some of the thro...

Re: Top 108 Moments for the 2016 Cubs (Now at #32)

I was a nervous wreck before going to game 5 of the WS, and my wife was in worse shape. I have a horrible record of watching the Cubs live. They have lost about 80% of the games I have been to. After that beating in game 4, I was faced with the Cubs possibly losing the Series in the game I went to. ...

Re: Top 108 Moments for the 2016 Cubs (Now at #34)

Both the NLDS and the NLCS were awesome because of moments like Kershaw collapsing or Law crying. Those dagger moments when the other team finally realizes they are not going to win is so much fun. Sadly, we didn't quite get that in the WS thanks to the Indians being a much better team than the Gian...

Re: Top 108 Moments for the 2016 Cubs (Now at #34)

At the risk of being extremely obvious, that game is the best game I've ever attended. This game was probably generally more exciting, but watching WS Game 5 in the bleachers with the KB homer and 2 2/3 innings of nothing but tension from Chapman was absolutely nuts as well. I would imagine any hom...

Re: The "I Don't Hate Dexter Fowler" thread

Nothing Dex could do in St Louis will ever be greater or mean more than what he did in Chicago. Dex Fan Forever. cut to the playoffs this year when dex hits a gapper and rounds the bases, bat still in hand, knee capping Rizzo, Russell, and Bryant Why wouldn't he kneecap Baez? Have you seen Baez's s...

Re: Cubs offseason thread

Joel Sherman on the Cubs' pursuit of Tyson Ross: http://nypost.com/2017/01/05/cubs-shopping-with-audacious-6-man-rotation-in-mind/ He says the Cubs could re-sign Wood if they miss out on Ross, but it sounds more like him guessing than any new reports. MLBTR also throws out a few (gross) names If Ch...

This off-season has been so ho-hum after winning the World Series. Such a great euphoria of winning followed by a big snooze-fest.

Re: MLBTR FREE AGENT PREDICTIONS

Meh. I don't mind them going into the season without one. We can only trade for one in July if it looks like a glaring problem. It's an awfully expensive purchase in July. If Edwin Jackson, Fowler and Hammel are all coming off the books along with a few others like Cahill and Wood, I would imagine ...

Kimmel with Bryant was better than Fallon. However, Fallon floated the rumor of Bartman throwing out the first pitch net season, but Fowler suggesting Moises Alou catch the pitch was awesome lol.

Re: It's beginning to look a lot like awards season

https://twitter.com/LangoschMLB/status/795664540180615168 I'm kinda hoping for laughs that the top 3 finalists for the CY are Arrieta, Lester and Hendricks. Gonna be Scherzer in there, though. I don't think it's gonna happen, but I'm really hoping Maddon wins MOY, just because of all the playoff cr...

Re: Mourning the loss of the 2016 baseball season

I enjoyed the hell out of every minute of the postseason (well, except a few hours after the losses), but I am so glad it's over. that's exactly where I am. The regular season was fun for about 110 games and then it was boring until October, where it was non-stop crazy and a perfect capper. I need ...

I can only imagine the outcome of our post season if he had even got 2 or 3 timely hits. He had 0 impact offensively. I am totally amazed we were able to completely hide his bat when just about every other single player either scored or drove runs in on offense. I was actually happy that he struck ...
