Re: 2018-19 Other Team Offseason Transactions Not Worth a New Thread

I liked him a lot as a trade target this offseason, he’s been awful in 7 AAA innings this year (never pitched in MLB for the Phillies). He’d be a worthwhile add, imo. He’s cheap and has options and has been good the last few years.

Re: NL Central: Vaunted Defending Champion Brewers and others

The Brewers signed Gio Gonzalez, he’s probably their best starting pitcher.

Re: Albert Almora is insanely good

I just remembered we have that Johnny Field guy in Iowa, checked his stats... he’s hitting .269/.316/.615, .373 wOBA, 114 wRC+, 2 Dongs, 6 doubles and 3 triples, 7% BB rate and 24% K rate, he had a 101 wRC+ vs LHP in mlb last year. Get his ass up here for Almora

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-23-19

https://twitter.com/Cubsminorswrap/status/1120883627162656769?s=19 Hopefully good news. Have a hard time seeing a hit to the forearm being a big deal and not knowing right away. So do we think Jared Young has a chance to be a thing? With his lack of defensive value I don't imagine he'll ever be a r...

Re: Addison Russell

On top of everything else, is there actually a good baseball reason to take at bats away from Bote and Descalso to give to Russell? *Pure baseball reason, I hope they never bring him up. The defense is definitely a reason, him at SS and Javy at 2B is better than anything we can currently do on the ...

Re: Albert Almora is insanely good

Surely Ian Happ could be OPSing more than .480. He doesn’t make a cool diving catch once every 2 weeks that is largely needed because he’s so slow, though I realize this is the crap on Almora thread, but metrics say you're completely wrong about this. He had the 2nd biggest gap between expected cat...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-22-19

So basically what we're waiting on from Hoerner is just more balls going over the wall, correct? I still distrust "doubles power" from prospects, as others do to be sure. Yeah he definitely needs to show some more HR power to be a Guy. They have admittedly said they are working on him get...

Re: Game of Thrones

Is there anyone outside of Jon/Dany who isn't on the table for dying? For Episode 3, I think Jamie survives and probably Tyrion. They’ve got to see Cersei again, especially after she sent Bronn to kill them in Ep 1. I thought for years that Jaime would be the one that takes down Cersei in the end, ...

Re: Game of Thrones

Seems like episodes 1 and 2 could’ve been combined and cut in to one like ~75-80 min episode. I get why they’re doing the build up and giving us time with everyone tonight is probably the right way to go but feel like there was just a lot of dead moments in the first two eps. Anyways, whatever, brin...

He’s down to .196/.268/.196, .200 wOBA and 18 wRC+ with a 60% GB rate for the year.

Re: "Time makes fools of us all" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

My point about trading Schwarber (and Russell) back when they had trade value was based on the fact that they were both easily replaced while giving us solid ML pitching (or top pitching prospects). Schwarber always has been the epitome of a DH in a league that doesn't use a DH. Russell's obvious r...

Re: NL Central: Vaunted Defending Champion Brewers and others

Corbin Burnes' struggles right now are super interesting. I'm generally an xFIP guy, and by xFIP he's actually been pretty good. However, 58% of his fly balls have left the yard so far. That's insanity. John Lackey's last year when we all hated him was 18%. Like there's clearly bad luck at play her...

Q’s change up usage is now at its highest rate (9.5%) since 2015 (10%). He was under 7% last year, just over 9% in 2017 and under 9% in 2016.
