Re: Golf thread

I started my first season as JV golf coach. Can't beat free golf. I actually get paid well enough to buy a new set of irons at the end of the season. Walking 9 holes 3 times a week carrying my bag hasn't been great for my back though. I should probably use a pull cart but the pain of that humiliati...

Re: On Bended Knee - The Rizzo Thread

I mean we all assume he’s done for the year most likely. Hopefully it’s just Jesse being an idiot. As long as he avoids surgery I’m taking it as good news.

Re: Heyman/Sullivan: Cubs calling up Hoerner

Can Niko be on the playoff roster since he wasn’t on the 40 man by September 1? Heard something that if Baez or Rizzo are out for thr playoffs, the Cubs could file a waiver to get Nico on? Russell was put on the official concussion list yesterday, so I think technically that’s the move that would m...

They got a BS hold/block in the back call on that drive that cost the Rams a TD. It evened out.

Re: Nico Hoerner: A New Hope

Allow me to overreact to a couple of windy Wrigley dongs, but since Hoerner hasn't gotten to play in a juiced ball league until now, I wonder if there are more homers in there than everyone thought. He seems to have a quick bat. A 2018* Gleyber-ian homer spike would be swell. *holy horsefeathers, h...

Re: NFL Week 2

I picked Patriots just because the pool I’m in never goes more than like 9 weeks so just want to survive and advance the first few weeks. But I’d go Baltimore or Houston as the smarter, more long term plays.

Re: Trade targets 2019

Chatwood and Happ for Jed Lowrie is something I like and thinks makes sense for everyone involved. Mets need to fill their rotation and get Happ to take Lowrie’s role for the trouble and Chatwood costing $3 mil more than Lowrie. Lowrie helps with the contact issues and helps the offensive depth and ...

Can interpret this a bunch of ways but man he’s setting up that bouncing Maddon will be the big move with a few roster tweaks and adds and basically run it back, isn’t he?

Joe is definitely going to make sure he hits 7 more appearances to increase the option for next year.

Re: It's Maddoning

He just seems like the kind of guy that is going to heavily (Dusty level) favor some players over others, and not necessarily based on talent. I base this solely on the ~100 or so words I've heard him speak. I get this feel from him too and don’t think whoever they bring will be allowed as much fre...

Re: Cubs suck and we were always right to hate them (2019 negativity thread)

If anyone can give me some info that Theo could've gotten Chapman without trading Gleyber, the Yankees did not have to give up a future superstar to acquire Chapman When they acquired him it was right after the dv allegations, from what I remember, and it was unclear how long he'd be suspended, so ...

Re: Cubs suck and we were always right to hate them (2019 negativity thread)

one of the more depressing things from a roster standpoint is we recklessly burned through prospect capital with extreme abandon: probably 2 guys combining for 80 HR this year that we threw away for 1-1/3 seasons of closer there's always people jumping in to justify Chapman trade but that always co...

Re: It's Maddoning

Oh I think that’s very likely and I was thinking of an offseason today where that’s the case that I’d still like and think this is it.... move Willy to RF full time, sign Grandal , trade for Manuel Margot (platoon in CF with Heyward) and send Almora out, Happ, Bote, Nico and Kemp are the “bench bat...

Re: It's Maddoning

I can 100% see a scenario where Maddon gets canned, the front office decides that it was the manager who sucked, not the players, and come back next year with essentially the same roster and (probably) a worse manager. Oh I think that’s very likely and I was thinking of an offseason today where tha...

Re: McLeod Named Senior VP of Player Personnel

McLeod is still pretty highly regarded as a scout/executive so it will be nice to have his skills being used on the major league team with the day-to-day stuff. I take it to mean being in charge of shifting, lineup construction/usage, advanced scouting, etc type stuff which is clearly something we’...

Re: McLeod Named Senior VP of Player Personnel

Could it also be they want to promote somebody to his position? Oh I think that’s a big part too, which is exciting they’re making changes on the player development side. Eno Sarris recently had an article saying he was hearing multiple teams were going to be making sweeping changes to player devel...

Re: McLeod Named Senior VP of Player Personnel

Would assume this is a way to keep other teams away and also may be the first steps of the Theo succession plan. Keep elevating McLeod who becomes GM when Jed becomes President of Ops when Theo is gone in a few years.

Other than giving Cishek too big a leash I thought he handled the bullpen fine last night. He’s had far more worse games this year when it comes to bullpen usage.
