Off day Monday too. So if you bullpen it they get a day to recoup. Really don’t get starting Chatwood

Re: Monty to DL

Kinda surprised they are going with Chatwood starting tomorrow no matter what and not seeing how tonight plays out with bullpen usage before making a decision...... If Chavez isn’t needed tonight start him and try and cobble together 5-6 competent innings from him, De La Rosa, Randy, or even Cishek ...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Morrow and Darvish are throwing in the OF right now. The plan was for Morrow to go off a mound tomorrow, iirc, as of earlier this week. Hopefully that’s still the plan.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-17-18

Seeing Keegan Thompson going today made me think of the top prospect list over at Bleachernation. I normally don't read anything over there written by Luke Blaize, but had some time to kill (apologies Luke, if you post over here as well). It's pretty awful, IMO. 1. Miguel Amaya 2. Keegan Thompson 3...

LMAO they posted this. He’s their new white savior after the rest of them sucked after being temporarily anointed.

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Keith Law kills me, gawd. He just cannot take even the slightest hint of criticism, even if it's not remotely close to a direct swipe. Chuck: Was David Bote on any scouts radar as any kind of a prospect? Sure, it’s a SSS, but you have to love how he plays the game and what he brings offensively and...

Re: The Terrible Umpires Thread

Are those Google glasses developed enough that the homeplate ump could wear them and see the strike zone box/pitch trax? Or do we not trust the umps would call what the technology is showing them? There’s no reason to make it this complicated. Use the tracking system we have. If it’s a strike a gre...

Re: #NotAllPitchers

Anyone else remember the 'Nelson will be back in the rotation in June' headlines before spring training? I still can't believe those were written, he tore his labrum in September. Yeah it was crazy. I don't know a lot about rehabbing injuries but wasn't Schwarber's comeback in the same season after...

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

If we get Bryce, I think an Almora/Heyward CF platoon would be nice. I hope you are right, because I agree. Id like to keep Schwarber, its just he has so much more value than any of the other guys we'd be willing to trade and could actually get us something exciting back. I really don't know if Sch...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

This move surprised me. I would have thought Bass was a part of the September discussion, perhaps though not likely 25th man on postseason roster. You wouldn't do this, then add him right back to the 40 man would you? I guess him clearing maybe gives an indication he wouldn't get rule 5 claimed if ...

Re: Addison Russell

Any of you bozos think he might be injured? It came out last month (maybe a little later actually) he has some sort of hand or finger injury and basically just has to play through it. It won’t get worse that they’re risking further injury but also won’t get better without extended rest. I think it’...

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

I'm optimistic about them being able to move one or both of Heyward and Chatwood. Seattle? I mean this entirely seriously, I want to keep Heyward. We can still fit Bryce in with him and I’ll buy in he’s figured it out enough offensively and he’s still good on defense. Plus I think he’s an awesome t...

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

Is there a way we could pay Bryce like 28 mil in the first year or two of the deal and then 42 in years 3 and 4 as a way to stay below the worst penalty and give us time to unload/let expire other contracts? It’s the total guaranteed money divided by the guaranteed years for LT purposes, it doesn’t...

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

I’d like to see something like Give Hamels 2/18-25 if this continues Sign Bryce to 30-35 AAV Re-sign Chavez for Duensings deal this year Attach Almora and another nothing prospect with Chatwood and take a minor leaguer or backup catcher back Trade like Caritini with a prospect to move Duensing Non-t...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Yeah no way would I vote for JD, even though he's having a great offensive year, but I could get behind Betts or Ramirez. Especially if this Trout injury keeps him out or makes him bad the rest of the year. I just can't see giving the MVP to a DH only when there's plenty of good other candidates an...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Yeah I don't really care about any of that as a main reason to vote for a guy. As a tie breaker, sure. But there's 3 better candidates, IMO. it is the tiebreaker, and a huge one; the main candidates all have monster stats but Trout gets substantially worse the higher the leverage situation and Mart...

Re: Addison Russell

My only issue with the idea of trading Russell, is I'm guessing his value isn't all that high and he could still fill a decent role on the team. He probably shouldn't be planned as a 145-150+ game starter next year with Bote and hopefully Bryce around. But he can still be pretty valuable for us in a...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Nightengale having a great night on Twitter. Apparently JD Martinez is an mvp finalist but Trout isn’t. i think i'm totally on board with this, and i might go a step further to make it really scorching and say he might not be top-5 for me at the moment did you know: Trout has worst clutch score in ...
