Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Yeah he's basically the same pitcher as last year looking at the numbers and velo and what not, and probably tops out around 3 WAR in best case scenario. Plus yeah, it wasn't so much thinking he would just suck this year. It was over the term of the deal and a better pitcher being available for not ...

Re: Addison Russell

Since I posted my thoughts above he's gone 3% BB rate, 14% K rate, 18% LD, 45% GB and 25% IFF rates and is at 22% hard hit contact with a.192/.222/.231 line with only 1 XBH (that doesn't include his 1-3 tonight since Fangraphs isn't updated yet). We appear to have some sort of Freaky Friday situatio...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

Anyway, Javy continues showing signs of growth at the plate. I can't believe this dude is able to recognize pitches. He has to be terrifying to pitch to right now. He took a 1-2 or 2-2 cutter/slider vs Anderson tonight (I think his 2nd AB) off the outside corner that was a pretty good pitch but not...

Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

Should we be more worried about Bryant? We're quickly reaching the point where you start to wonder about a DL stint if he has symptoms, then he has to have a concussion, right? is there such thing as a borderline concussion? how do heads work? I think it's more the case of they're making sure there...

I really loved Roquan Smith going in to the draft. Might not be the flashiest or best guy but he’s really good and an animal.

Browns could have traded down both picks and done this draft

Re: Bears 2018 Offseason: Matt Nagy Hired as Head Coach

Shouldn't the Browns take Barkley #1 and then take whatever QB is left at #4? Is there really anything that meaningfully separates these top 4 QBs? None of these guys is Peyton Manning. If I was them I think I’d do Chubb/Barkley at 1, then trade out of 4 to a QB needy team (Broncos, Bills, Cardinal...

Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

Should we be more worried about Bryant? We're quickly reaching the point where you start to wonder about a DL stint I’m worried since it seems like it’s a mental thing (understandably so) and not physical thing. I’m hoping to see him back tomorrow, a soft tossing lefty in Suter seems like a good gu...

Re: NL Central Also-Rans: Reds, Brewers, Cubs, Cardinals

Fangraphs projections has it at Cubs 91 (tied for most with Dodgers in NL), Cardinals 88, VB’s 82 as of right now and who cares about Reds/Pirates, fwiw. We are at 88% for playoffs (62% for division) Cardinals at 72% (31%), Brewers 25% (5%).

Current Pythagorean Wins are VBs 14-11, 15-8, Cubs 13-8

They look really good minus corner infield defense.

They're the best team in the division besides us but I'm not worried about them, they probably top out at mid-high 80s wins and we should clear them by a good ~7 games in the end.

The Pelicans faced off against probably the VBs top prospect in Keston Hiura. He's currently hitting .185/.259/.277 on the season. He's probably going to hit eventually, but haa haa. He’s still mostly DH’ing because of the elbow problem he had/has going back to college where he couldn’t throw and h...

Thames to the DL with a torn ligament in his thumb. Sounds like he’s out anywhere from 6 weeks to 2+ months.

Puerto Rico is fantastic. After they get their place put back together from the hurricane, I'd highly recommend it as a vacation spot. It's just a slightly different flavor of USA. Walgreens and food courts and cable television and all. Just more palm trees, rum, and salsa music. It's like a Latino...

He has 16 PAs against them this year, Javy and Almora (whom you'd always assume is playing vs LHP are only in the low-mid 20s). He's getting chances.

Isn’t the upper deck the last part to be renovated and what the speakers are attached to mostly? Maybe when that gets done they’ll update the sound system.

It’s hard for me to see the electoral reaction to Trump’s presidency thus far as anything but a sign he’s going to be emphatically voted out in 2020, but maybe there’s a turnaround or some other reason to think that things will change from Democrats flipping senate seats in Alabama to Trump threadi...

Re: Politics & Current Events

100% agree with all this, plus consider that 37%-40% is more or less Trump’s ceiling (as you sorta alluded to). 538 would call this a bad use of polling. Nate Silver himself has also repeatedly pointed out how Trump's pretty steady hovering around 41% leaves him just barely outside the polling wind...
