Re: Where will Giancar-go? The Yankees.

i don't want to trade baez for yelich Fair enough. If we got Starlin back I’d do it but if it’s a 3 team deal I probably wouldn’t now that I think of it. I’d send them Almora or Happ and Seal boy with Starlin going to a 3rd team and us getting Yelich. With some other ancillary pieces involved all a...

Re: NFL Week 13 (now with more Geno Smith)

There's no Week 14 so I'll put this here. Why is a team forced to burn a timeout in the last two minutes when there's an injury when the clock is stopped? It makes total sense if the clock is running (you don't want a player to fake an injury to stop the clock). It didn't matter but Baltimore had t...

Re: Where will Giancar-go? The Yankees.

Bring him home (with Yelich). Good God, why? Starlin isn't good. Because he'd presumably be part of a package deal with Yelich since the Marlins are trying to dump salary. I’d be down for something centered around Javy for Starlin and Yelich. Or some sort of 3-team trade where Javy ends up in Miami...

Re: Offseason Transactions

What am I missing in Ozuna that has people so down on him? He’s a perfectly fine player, but he is more of a nice complimentary player than a middle of the order anchor they need/want and will be costly in terms of acquisition cost and is another example of them not getting a player they really wan...

Joel Sherman was just on MLBN and said Cobb was in Chicago last week to meet with us, haven’t heard or seen that anywhere.

Re: The Alex Cobb Thread

Man, everyone seems to think Cobb next is almost a formality. Maybe it is but I also wonder if Theo/FO are using it as a smokescreen for some other move for a SP (Darvish, Archer, something else?) seems odd how everyone just thinks Cobb next is likely.

Re: Bullpen Options

Remember how Eddie Butler exists? What are they going to do with him? He has no options left so I assume they'd put out trade feelers right? Maybe see how he looks in ST and he gets a bullpen or 6th starter spot (if we go that route) to start the year since theres a few guys going for the last spot...

Re: Cubs Close to Signing Morrow for 2 Years + Option

Cubs saying horsefeathers you to injury history when comes to their free agent signings so far... Chatwood and Morrow have good stuff, elite by some metrics, but man they are a roll of the dice in the health department. I really wonder if they're going to overload the rotation and play games with t...

Trying to get below the LT this year? Is that even possible or are they blown by it? They also have a billion pitching options in house already (of varying health and effectiveness).

Re: Cubs Close to Signing Morrow

Wait. Happ for Brad Hand? Straight up? Why? Because the Cubs have too many outfielders with last names that start with H, but not enough relievers like that. I’m not a fan of that trade, would rather just spend money on the final bullpen spot. If you’re looking for a Hand type guy I think Liriano i...

I like the “could close” mention here. I still wouldn’t mind Wade back. Glad it doesn’t seem like we guaranteed him the closer spot.

Re: Cubs Close to Signing Morrow

To be clear, Morrow has by far the best production of any of the options available, so if they can have him around for a similar season as LA did last year, that's a big deal. And I hadn't realized he spent 20 IP at AAA so that's something too. But I do think there's more to Morrow's durability tha...

Re: Cubs Close to Signing Morrow

Justin Grimm threw more MLB innings last year than Morrow did, and he got demoted to Iowa three different times. He wasn’t in the bullpen full time until the way end of June, he wasn’t up until end of May and threw 6 innings between May 29th and June 5 then was gone until June 21st and up full time...

Re: The Alex Cobb Thread

If we sign Cobb does this pretty much lock us into a Lester, Hendricks, Quintana, Cobb, Chatwood rotation for the next 3 years? Yeah but you never know with injuries, if we finally develop someone, trade one of those guys off going in to their last year (probably more Hendricks or Q than anyone) or...

Re: The Alex Cobb Thread

I know it sounds spoiled, but the closer this gets, the more I'm hoping for a trade instead. A rotation that includes Lester/Hendricks/Quintana/Cobb/Chatwood is damn solid. But, I still kind of want more. I’d rather have Cobb than trade anyone (Cobb + all the position players > acquired SP - any tr...
