Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

We traded Michael Roth to the Rangers apparently. Do they have any IFA money to trade that could be coming back? Not that I’d assume it would be anything great but if they are in the penalty box who knows?

Re: The Manny Machado Thread

guys no one is taking jason heyward off our hands. he is a millstone around our necks and the rest of the league knows it. We're gonna end up doing something like Russell, Heyward and some combo of Monty, Caritini, Alzolay, Bote, etc to SD for Hand and them paying some chunk of Heyward's contract a...

Re: The Manny Machado Thread

Braves, Rangers, Giants or Padres would be my guesses as landing spots. Braves have done salary deals before and it’s his hometown, Rangers seem to always be looking to do something, Giants always need outfielders and his defense in that park would be good and they have money/lose some guys this yea...

Re: 2018 Draft Thread

Oh for sure. His stats are very impressive and I like his swing actually. It's just you're not getting any value on defense from him so the bat has to be pretty special. It might be too soon but I brought up if there were any bat only college guys this year for a future Rizzo replacement (maybe tha...

Re: 2018 Draft Thread

He is indeed considered a 1B/DH only type player. He played RF his freshman year and seemed okay to me on video, but reports say he was pretty bad out there. Some scouting reports don't like his swing and worry about how he'll perform with a wooden bat. I don't have a strong opinion on him, but his...

Re: 2018 Draft Thread

I haven't followed draft prospects very closely this year. What's the deal with Seth Beer? Statistically, he looks so much better than the other college bats mocked in the late first, but he isn't a first round pick in most mock drafts. Is his defense that bad? First base/DH only? I like him a lot ...

Re: 2017-2018 NHL season

Vegas -160 favorite, I am a bit surprised. Vegas/books probably know they are going to take a lot of money on them so they adjusted it more for that than who they think is gonna win. I read the other day if Vegas wins, with the futures bet on them, sportbooks will take a loss on the year overall fo...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

I have a theory that writers inflate trade costs because they don't want to deal with angry responses from fans of the trading team and they don't want to hear breathless hypotheticals from people who think trading 3 average players for Mike Trout adds up. Also, the more blockbustery the trade the ...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

https://twitter.com/fullcounttommy/status/999645124245229569?s=21 Our mainstream writers outside of pretty much just Sahadev have no horsefeathering idea how player valuation works. Also I think goes to prove they were pushing a baseless story on players involved (and likely overplaying the interes...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

So Justin Wilson has no value to Baltimore -- I know that. It would have to be some three-team trade where Justin Wilson goes to Team C and they send a couple prospects to Baltimore. You're not getting a whole lot for Wilson right now. I think we have the pitching prospects to get a deal done. Most...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

Boy are their expectations going to be shattered with the end return. He’s not going to bring back much more than JD Martinez last year, which was 3 very average prospects and only 1 was top 100 (but not 50, iirc). If we get him it honestly going to be something hilarious like Caritini, Bote, Hatch...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

I like Bote and would like to keep him, but I honestly wonder if the Orioles would really like him? He can play all over the IF (probably some OF too), is cheap and seems like he could be a second division starter for them. They lose Machado this year and Schoop is a FA after next year so they have ...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

Thanks TT, looking at the charts and reading the article then I guess I’m wrong a little about this year. But since this is basically the same offense as last year and looking at that chart my hunch was somewhat right that they pretty much have a normal distribution/variance/volatility/whatever when...
