Re: [Brainstorm] HR Derby Changes/Updates

We could tier it by position (idk exactly how you'd determine the cutoffs, maybe top ~6 in HRs at each position?) but you could only pick say 2 players from tier A for 2 positions of your choice, 3 from tier B for 3 positions of your choice then the rest of you lineup/positions needs to be on tier C...

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

I don’t know if this is actually legal or how it would be accounted for by MLB (maybe they wouldn’t view it as a new deal but a continuation of his current deal and the current LT hit applies for the next 2 years and only the third year would be accounted as a new deal when that comes?) but if this ...

You can't pass up trading almost your whole MLB outfield for a guy who pitched 90 total innings this year in MiLB (all in AA) and missed time with a forearm injury when the opportunity presents itself.

Re: Realistic Trade Targets

yes trading 75 percent of our outfield for a 17 year old and an albeit very good guy in AA would be bad 75%? McKenzie’s probably ML ready late 2019 or early 2020 if that helps he's a young rail thin pitcher (he's thinner than CARL EDWARDS JR unbelievably) and we'd be running out an OF of Heyward (m...

Re: [Brainstorm] HR Derby Changes/Updates

If we’re just wanting to mix things up, how about scrapping the “tiers” of players and changing it so everyone has to have a complete “team” of fielders? Three outfielders plus the five infielders and a DH. Then, when you make a transaction, it has to be for the same position. If Anthony Rizzo gets...

Re: Realistic Trade Targets

Where would he play? He’s atrocious on defense. I suppose we could trade for him and dump him in the middle of Lake Michigan for knocking Braun’s ball over the wall. Harper - Heyward/Someone - Castellanos Should add that Castellanos is mostly about adding a RH bat coming off a ~.350 wOBA over the p...

Re: Realistic Trade Targets

Anyone else interested in Nick Castellanos? I consider Harper a must but still want to add a good RH bat. Re: Bathroom Nightmares

I have a good friend who works for Kohler. He got one of their $1,000 toilet seats that has a built in bidet for like $200 at an employee sale or got a prototype for free because he was marketing it or something..... but the story goes he bought a house recently and installed it himself and didn’t d...

Re: The Chili has gone bad

The league wide offensive drop off probably is due to more bullpening (more platoon disadvantage for hitters, more premium stuff faced, less seeing a SP 3rd time, etc) and I think the ball wasn’t as juiced this year (Someone did one of those x-ray or whatever studies with balls from this year vs las...

Re: The Chili has gone bad

I was always cautious to blame Chili for the overall offense trending down, especially in the 2nd half when there were circumstances with injuries, etc with guys that no hitting coach would fix. I figured I’d trust the FO with whatever direction they went with him this offseason with keeping him or ...

Re: The Chili has gone bad

The pitch to Bryce couldn't be simpler now. Contract offer will be within 95% of his max offer, gets to play with his friend, gets to play in a market and for a team to maximize endorsements, brings to the offense what we are needing, can be the signing that signals and org change back to OBP/SLG, e...

Javy just completely ignored Chili Ball this year I feel like, Rizzo probably did too come May/June. But Javy was probably never about it, he fixed himself/figured out on his own what he had to do.

Re: Chili Davis out as hitting coach

He seemed like a decent dude but think his way of thinking is too outdated to be 100% the way to go. I think his theory can fit a smaller role within an org but it shouldn’t be the prevailing theory. Hopefully he finds work somewhere.
