Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

I always fully buy in to relief prospects who put up video game numbers in the low minors and I don't think I've been right yet. Mekkes is the one though.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-1-18

Andy Weber went 0-5 last night so presumably Cole Roederer will have multiple base hits tonight... And sure enough, Roederer leads off the game with a triple and later scores, then follows that up with a HR! When I was in high school, we played this team in football that had identical twin brothers...

Is there any chance the Cards didn’t call to see if Pham would be enough for Hader? I bet they even offered a package that included Hicks.

Re: It’s not me, it’s Yu

If he retires, he forfeits his remaining years, right? Looks that way: Typically, if a player retires 100% voluntarily, his salary will end as soon as he has received the full amount earned. For example, a Major League Baseball player earns his salary during the baseball season (which ends in Septe...

Re: Sources: Cubs have a deal in place for Cole Hamels

Only problem is Montgomery probably can’t maintain a full starter’s workload. 1) he can 2) Darvish still exists 3) once september hits you can limit his workload since the entire iowa shuttle is in the pen 1 and 3) For some reason I thought he was already nearing his career high in IP, but I guess ...

I went the Phillies/Reds playoff game back in like 2010 or whatever when Hamels shut out the Reds for the sweep....Hopefully he pitches like that.

Re: Cubs acquire Jesse Chavez from Texas!

Plus he doesn't have to face the Astros anymore. Going from Astros to Brewers as the best division rival probably cuts 2 runs off his ERA easy.

Apparently late last night the Brewers agreed to add a young stud reliever to their offer. No details yet, but sounds interesting.

Junior Guerra to DL due to right forearm injury. He's either dead or the Brewers are just trying to weasel another pen arm for their double header.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

It wouldn’t really affect balls in play, but I do kind of hate shifting. Makes the game more boring and seems like it could be a very simple fix. Just say 3B/SS can’t begin the play right of the 2B bag, 2B can’t begin to the left. And maybe I just feel this way because the Cubs don’t shift as much a...

Re: The Manny Machado Thread

It seems like whatever dude the Brewers grab off the street to play middle infield for them on a given week ends up with a 1.500 OPS and multiple game-winning HRs, so sure, let them give up their best prospects for Machado. I don’t see how it could make them better.

Looks like the Orioles had obligatory selections in 2008 (George Sherrill) and 2010 (Ty Wiggington). this must be what it's like to be a fan of another team and read "bryan lahair, 2012 all star" cuz who the horsefeathers is george sherrill? he's one of those randos I actually remember. h...

Re: 2018 All Star Game

It's especially glaring when compared to Trout, Betts, and Judge, which is maybe the best outfield of all time. Slow down there. Many of the All-Star games in the 50’s had an NL outfield of Mays, Aaron, and Musial. I don't care enough to dig into it, but I imagine the seasons Trout, Betts, and Judg...

That NL outfield...woof.

I mean Harper is awesome but has had a horrible first half. And then a couple of old turds who've had a hot stretch. It's especially glaring when compared to Trout, Betts, and Judge, which is maybe the best outfield of all time.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-6-18

Sean Rodriguez is playing 3B for the Indy Indians tonight and so far has struck out on 3 pitches and had a soft line drive bounce off his glove and I am having a lot of fun laughing very loudly at him. Add on a throwing error. Best game ever. I'll bet you he's teaching Beating the horsefeathers Out...
