Re: Game of Thrones

Not to mention the days/weeks spent at Winterfell, Dragonstone and Castle Black between travel People who care about this are dumb. They can't get across the wall. They can only wait for events south of the wall to allow them to continue on. i feel like derwood wants a real-time take of the show wh...

Re: TV thread

i think part of what made the first series so great was the whole "i can't believe we're doing this!" vibe that it had. this season felt more like "well, we're still doing this." it kind of felt like they ran out of gags and were just being absurd for the sake of being absurd. t...

Re: Game of Thrones

there are a lot of real historical examples of knights in full plate dying in very shallow water/mud, especially ones who fell face first and whose visors got stuck in the mud. Jamie is not in full plate in that scene from the pics I've seen. He has a breastplate, gorget, and pauldrons (the shoulder...

Re: Game of Thrones

One hot take I'm seeing and not comprehending is the idea that despite all the hoopla, there are no stakes for the main characters since none of them have died or are at risk of dying. A thing people have been saying about game of thrones, the show that built up a surplus of stakes related to the m...

I wish they had cast someone else as Euron. The guy they have is way over the top. I don't think he's written very well, either.

Can you imagine if we got Verlander and jettisoned Lackey in the middle of a playoff chase? I know it's not gonna happen, but damn that is a funny hypothetical.

Boy, this THR interview with TJ Miller about leaving SV is sure something. They say it was edited and condensed for clarity, so, holy horsefeathers, the original must have been a nightmare. Dude does not seem to be a fan of Alec Berg and Middleditch: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tj-mi...

Re: TV thread

It's definitely been slow (I mean, slow even for a show that is almost all slow burn), but I'll be pretty surprised if this latest one doesn't rock your socks. I think the biggest problem with the season is how they've been trying to keep Oleg on it. I get wanting to use an actor as good as Costa R...

I have not seen the most recent episode, but on the whole this season has been ass.

I wish the Big 12 could/would kick Baylor out. The conference sucks anyway; who cares if you have to replace them with SMU or Rice.

Cuonzo Martin is a pretty terrible coach. Mizzou might make the tourney. It's no sure bet though.

Re: TV thread

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh... It gets lumped in all the time, but it really feels more like timing as opposed to direct impact. It was the very definition of a show made by committee, which sets it very much apart from pretty much all of the other acclaimed "golden age" shows that have been driven pr...

Feel bad for Frank Mason, hell of a player. Some of your fans are insane, calling for Self to be on the hot seat..... He's, for my money, the best coach in college. People are dumb. Who are you gonna get that's better? Coach K? Cal? Roy (who couldn't win here)? I feel bad for Frank too. Basically a...

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball Thread

That Kansas comeback/West Virginia choke was something to behold. Whatever you think about Bill Self, the guy is amazing. Soon to be 13 consecutive B12 titles. Going to be a long time before we see that again in a power conference. And the B12 is the best conference this year (sorry, ACC). Unbeliev...

It was maybe a blessing we didn't get HFA considering that got us 4 games with Kyle.

Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Otani

Maybe I'm being petulant, but it seems unfair that old decisions (like overspending in IFA) should be affected by a new rule. Maybe the Cubs (or other teams) wouldn't have spent the way they did if they'd known it would prevent them from bidding on Otani in the future. Am I just being a baby by thin...

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball Thread

IU with a win in a classic vs. Kansas to open the season last night. We just have so many weapons. OG led the team early with 10 points in the 1st 8 minutes or so. Then Bryant dominated the middle of the game, where he scored most of his 19. Then Blackmon put up 22 in the 2nd half and OT in case th...
