Re: Cubs suck and we were always right to hate them (2019 negativity thread)

The "flags fly forever" crowd probably are o.k. with things, even if the window is shut. I don't subscribe to that thinking, but I know plenty who do. I want both, but if I had to pick, give me that one glorious flag every living Cubs fan had never gotten to see raised before 2016. It wou...

I 100 percent don't believe you 100 percent believe that.

I'd celebrate if Heyward can just slug .400.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Carl was screwed up by the coaching staff. They spent the entire spring teaching him a new motion, which he was very successful with in spring, that was blatantly illegal and then told him to just go back to his old motion. I'm not surprised he's struggling even more than usual. Wasn't he going to ...

horsefeathers. Is our payroll really $221 million? I thought it was $205.

This is the horsefeathering team we have with that?

For the Cubs fans here who are cheering against the Cubs now, are you happy about this deal or upset by it? Paul Goldschmidt does not strike me as the type of player who loses all baseball talent in his early thirties. There are some players who baffle me. Guys who seemingly fall off a cliff in the...

Not that about 30 percent of our bullpen is currently in the same situation He was bad in August and playoffs but he was good in Sept/October. There are some red flags overall though, BB and HR spiked a bit, velo and stuff remained the sa...

Sigh. https://twitter.com/YankeeSource/status/1102219037466071040 Their opening day payroll in the recent past has been $88 million, $100 million, $95 million and now $140 million. In a big market. Re: The Bryce is Right, Bitch

I wouldn't be upset by the deal, but anytime you stretch out a deal that long even hitting that low WAR number is a risk. Pujols for example over his last 13 years has averaged 3.88 WAR per year. And those 13 years include 2 MVP years out of him, 2 2nd place finishes, and 2 other top 10 MVP years. ...

Is it a lie or did they just fail? Both? It’s pretty hard to pull off with the caps on draft and IFA spending, imo. You pretty much have to go through these cycles now. Hopefully our next downward cycle (around 2023-2025ish I’d say) can be shorter since we can or should have the ability to spend mo...

Re: The Ricketts family kind of sucks

Oh horsefeathers off Tom. Arbitrarily hard-capping the payroll in the absolute middle of the competitive window for the team's core is ridiculous. An argument could be made that the Cubs didn't feel Harper was a smart investment. That isn't an argument I would agree with, but it is an argument none...

Re: 2018-19 Other Team Offseason Transactions Not Worth a New Thread

I know the prevailing thought has been that the rest of the free agents have been waiting on Harper/Machado to set the market, but at this point, I'm sorta shocked that Kuechel, Gonzalez, et al are still sitting there unsigned. When does the dam break? I didn’t realize the extent of it until i saw ...
