Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Unless they actually sign Didi Gregorius to a two-year contract that pays him $10 to $15 million per season, I am of the belief that the Cubs have shown zero indication or interest in signing anybody for $10 to $15 million per season as they pretend they don't have any money to sign free agents for ...

Not to mention his organization is equally as bad or worse when it comes to sexual harassment.

If that dumb horsefeathers was on a no-fly list, wouldn't he not have made it through security and been arrested before being able to act like a spoiled brat?

Re: Report: Darvish to Padres a Done Deal (P. 3)
The Cubs paid a huge ransom for Jose fricking Quintana. Why wouldn’t we get HAUL for Yu Darvish? I expect a haul here too. The prospect names haven’t come out yet. But Q was only 27/28 vs Yu being 34 (turns 35 during the year), Q was controlled as long but for 1/3 the price, and had cleaner injury ...

Re: Cubs deep in discussions with Padres on Darvish
There was a time a half a season into the Yu contract when the thought of being able to trade him for anything would have been unlikely. He really became awesome again. The Cubs have gotten really stale for me, and just coming back with the same team was going to be stale again. Considering I don't ...

Re: Cubs deep in discussions with Padres on Darvish
I know Myers was quite good in 2020 but that predicted return seems light if you are taking his contract in return. I could be wrong, but I'd imagine the Padres are going to pay a decent amount of it. Possibly, but two years of Wil Myers, even if cheap, isn't overly valuable to us after trading one...

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
I don't know how you can be bored with all of the Cubs' activity. We traded Theo for Hoyer, Venable for Harris, Kasper for an announcer to be named later, we dumped our starting LF and closer for nothing, etc. while those other silly teams are working on their rosters. I know I just know this, but ...

Re: Len Kasper taking White Sox radio job
again, if len really wants to just nerd out and wanted to do radio without having to uproot his family and this was just a timing thing, so be it. if that's what he wants, he should do whatever makes him happy. i tend to, like others, suspect that all the nonsense going on with the Cubs had at leas...

Re: Len Kasper taking White Sox radio job
Yes, there has to have been a poor fit for Len at Marquee. That is the only way this makes sense. Radio is a step-down. Going from the Cubs to the Sox is a bigger step-down. Whether it has to do with an increased role with Fox or the stupidity of the three-man booth and dressing up in big boy cloth...

Re: RE: Re: Non Tender Deadline Happenings
Are they allowed to sign him to a cheaper contract before the deadline? Why would Schwarber agree to that though? He might as well at least test the market before taking a cut. I guess it would depend on if he felt confident in this climate that somebody would pay him $6 million and might not want ...

Re: Non Tender Deadline Happenings
Are they allowed to sign him to a cheaper contract before the deadline? Why not just try to hammer out 5 or 6 million instead of 8 since he probably won't get that much this offseason. Or maybe he would.

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
They already wasted a ton of player value sending a very mediocre team onto the field in 2019. To quote you again, this is the only really huge screwup Theo had in my eyes. Last offseason was the time to unload some of these guys for legit prospects and he failed to do it and it can't be done now. ...

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Mired in mediocrity is the worst place you can be. They either need to go all in this year and accept that there's a 5 year rebuild coming or completely tear it down. They already wasted a ton of player value sending a very mediocre team onto the field in 2019. I would find a five-year rebuild to b...

Restart? Watch this Board bitch and cry when they are 20 games out of first place. I don't think you understand this board if you think people here will care about the standings during the first year of a complete teardown. Or I guess maybe I don't understand the board. It will depend, right? Trade...

Has Bryant fielded the ball and thrown it to Rizzo for the out yet? Please tell me that's where we officially are. Or is Montgomery just taking the mound right now? Can people explain betting to me? Biden was -500 on Bovada 40 minutes ago and now is -300. If there is that much money coming in on the con man, am I supposed to be scared?
