Re: Trade targets 2019

Dyson is basically a LF hitting Almora (actually slightly worse statistically). A singularly unappealing option. For the last two months of the season, though, I'd rather have the speedy guy with a .335 OBP than the slow guy with a .275 OBP. Dyson also serves as the base stealer Theo often adds for...

Anything that gets Almora out of the lineup on a consistent basis is not pointless. Just imagine that first slow grounder to third base, and instead of Almora getting thrown out by three feet, Dyson is already five feet past it. That's what speed do.

Re: Trade targets 2019

I don't see "intense love" for Castellanos. I see an acknowledgement that in a seller's market with very few options, he may be the best realistic one. If you're going to deal you do it with the assumption you have to at least try and beat the Dodgers in a 7-game series, as unlikely as th...

Re: Trade targets 2019

I mean, I'd love to unload junk on Baltimore. Let's just offer Russell and some of our AAA arms for Givens and Villar and see what happens. I don't get the intense love for Castellanos. He's an OK bat and a terrible fielder and he'd be a rental. I don't see "intense love" for Castellanos....

I just like him because he hits a lot of doubles and gets a good amount of XBHs.

Re: RE: Re: Trade targets 2019

Sounds like the Castellanos chatter is heating up. He makes some sense, but he seems like a great distillation of what I haven’t liked about most of the Cubs’ trades in recent years. Castellanos can hit, but he’s a DH/bad corner OF. If that profile is what you need, why not try to find someone who ...

Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

I've thought about this trade more......and I'm still annoyed we sold so low on Monty for a backup catcher we could've had for $2 million in the offseason. I'm not questioning that Maldonado fits an important need, and is good to have with Willy on the IL. And I figured we'd be trading Monty anyway...

Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

I will say, with the one trading deadline this year, the Cubs needed to get another decent catcher rather than be stuck with Taylor Davis should Willy or Vic be down at any point the last two months.

Re: 2019 is Jason Heyward fixed thread

I’d love for him to opt out before the fixed baseballs turn him back into a pumpkin Lately I've thought that maybe he is now comfortable with the Cubs and his contract and simply doesn't GAF and is going to be this kind of player (the player we thought we were getting) for the rest of his contract....

Re: 2019 is Jason Heyward fixed thread

ETA: Also, in the juiced ball year, are J-Hey's numbers even that good, or just good for J-Hey? He has a 115 wRC+ so yeah he’s been just plain good. That’s the same wRC+ as Lindor and within 1 point of Harper and Story. OK. Cool. I just looked at the nine doubles and 15 homers and a clean slash lin...

Re: 2019 is Jason Heyward fixed thread

I suppose it's OK to have the discussion considering it's a message board, but there is a zero percent chance Heyward opts out. I'm just enjoying that he's having a solid season and at least one of the final five years of his contract wasn't terrible offensively. I would like to see them trade for a...

Re: Trade targets 2019

Im still only really interested in an elite lefty bullpen arm. Anything else we could add, i dont think the upgrade warrants the cost and i dont think it helps us that much in the playoffs. But if we get lucky enough to add an elite lefty and get Morrow healthy, and we hit the playoffs with a bullp...

Re: Trade targets 2019

He hasn’t hit them this year but he hit them well last year (almost 140 wRC+) and it’s only been like 55 PAs this year. He’s like 3 decent games vs them from the numbers looking a lot better. I’m not against adding a bat(s) (look at my recent posts in here) I don’t really care for Merrifield becaus...

I know this is probably over the top, but I like when guys on the Cubs are having good years but don't actually make the team. I prefer they get the full time off.

Re: Trade targets 2019

Is it OK that I want them to trade for Jarrod Dyson, or is that ignorant? Or, is it OK to want to trade for him, but it's ignorant because I want him to lead off, get on base and steal right away so that we have a chance to score a run in the first inning each time he does? Also, I don't even know i...

Re: Kimbrel?

I love that even when we have owners who don't want to spend we are still signing a big free agent every year. And that's not meant to be sarcastic. This has a good chance to blow up like Heyward and Darvish, but I'd rather them just spend money than prospects on trying to find a closer. Man, they'...

That was quick: https://twitter.com/danialvarez_16/status/1135522689232330753 I wonder if someone is going on the IL? Javy maybe? Maybe, but if not I would just assume Jim Adduci is going back down. Left handed outfielder replacing a left handed outfielder. Yeah, pretty sure that's all it is. The p...

Keeping Len and JD is the biggest part of all this. As for the extra money, if true, it's going to have to be used for extensions, right? Like, the free agent crop is going to suck if I remember correctly. Unless Betts is a free agent after this season? I guess Rendon, but he seems to be a lucrative...

Good to see we have some synergy going up and down the organization from the majors to the minors with misdiagnosing injuries To be fair to the Cubs, I wouldn't necessarily call this a "misdiagnosis" because hairline fractures can be very difficult to discover. Sometimes a person doesn't ...

I really don't care who is at fault. Divorces happen. Wondering for those who have gotten divorced, how long do you get to be away from your job while dealing with it?
