Re: Astros stole signs electronically in 2017

if you had time to sit and prepare for the pitch, sure, but the video seemed to show the batter getting the info just before the pitcher goes into windup. There's not a whole lotta time to adjust to a pitch at the point, and thats where it can be detrimental to the batter rather then helpful. The o...

Re: Astros stole signs electronically in 2017

No setting up a system with cameras in your home park so you can instantly relay signs to a hitter is capital C cheating. I'm not even sure there's a huge benefit(lots of hitters have said they don't even want that information), but when you're systematically getting it in a way that isn't possible...

Re: 2020 roster

So if we're doing a whole "retool not rebuild" thing, what are the potential options? I see five...am I missing any? 1. Trade Willson 2. Trade Q 3. Trade Schwarber 4. Trade Heyward 5. Trade KB I think #1 is clearly the most attractive, as doing a whole Willson/Grandal swap is something th...

Re: The Ricketts family sucks in all kinds of ways

For the record, I don't want anyone anally raped in prison or any place else. Rape is not cool. I was just thinking about the Ricketts again at lunch and got angrier. They own an entire city block of retail, hotel, and apartments around Wrigley, Wrigley, the Cubs, TD Ameritrade, and God knows what ...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I have been curious about this, just as a fun topic and interested to hear if others would scoff at this. Taking into account service time and arbitration contracts, etc., would you trade any two Cubs players for Juan Soto? Which I guess would mean would you trade KB and Javy for Soto? I'm thinking ...

Re: Cubs Manager Search (Ross to be hired - Kaplan)

We bypassed a couple of guys everybody seems to want to hire a guy no other organization showed the remotest interest in even interviewing. Given the organization's track record over the past three years, it seems only natural to be a bit uneasy about that. Didn't he interview with the Twins last y...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I'm pretty much always in favor of labor over ownership IRL, but always in pro sports. If the Cubs lose a year of control, so be it. I'm cool with that short term pain if it can somehow contribute to structural change. I feel like I'm a good person. Sometimes I feel bad that I don't care at all abo...

I have to be 100 percent honest: I hope we have him for two more seasons and not one. Not one part of me hopes he wins this hearing.

I will accept being called names.

And if this score holds up, they will have allowed three or fewer runs in 15 of those games. What the ever living horsefeathers is going on here?

Re: 2020 roster

He also has missed multiple games due to the knee earlier this month and will likely miss the last six with an ankle injury. The guy is banged up a lot, that's all. You can do this kind of injury listing for pretty much anyone, probably mostly worse. Bottom line he's played 147 games this year mini...

Re: 2020 roster

Not career threatening. But for two months now he's had a knee that has apparently hurt his production. That's coming off a season in which he had a bad shoulder for like four months. The Cubs aren't going to trade him, but they are going to try. This knee thing is a whole different level from the ...

Outside of the shoulder thing, and he has a 5 fWAR season this year saying it's behind him, what other career threatening injuries has Bryant had? I don't want to be annoying so I promise I won't say this every time it comes up, but every proposal that includes trading Bryant I have to scream into a pillow to avoid deleting out of spite. Re: 2020 roster

No we are not “screwed.” That sequence of moves is so unlikely, just not realistic. The problem isn’t the core, the core is still pretty damn good. The problem is the margins and complimentary pieces to supplement what the core lacks, which can be addressed in the offseason. You just don’t blow it ...

Re: 2020 roster

What good does Bryant for Betts even do besides subtract an MVP candidate to replace him with one hitting FA after the season? How is Bryant's 26-27 any different from Rendon's 25-26 outside of being way better? Well, it's more replacing Bryant with Rendon but then also getting another star for KB....

The 4 best SP, the best reliever, and 4 position players(3 of them stars) are basically chiseled in concrete, it’s gonna feel familiar unless you start making trades for the sake of trades. The reckoning starts one way or another after next year, when you have half the rotation plus Rizzo out of co...

When I say his last name, I say it as Horner. Like Bob Horner. I bet that's not the way it is actually said, therefore I'm not saying in out loud yet. Let me know.
