Re: Nico Hoerner: A New Hope

When I say his last name, I say it as Horner. Like Bob Horner. I bet that's not the way it is actually said, therefore I'm not saying in out loud yet. Let me know.

Re: Baez Hairline fracture of his left thumb

I think he should just tape it up and play. Or just use one hand to bat. And if it's the right hand that's broken, he thankfully can throw with his left. He could even just have them cut the hand off and he'd be better than Addison Russell.

Also, I think it can be concluded that Theo does much better on trades than free agent signings. There have been a few clunkers, but for the most part, the man does really well with it and should do more of that.

Re: Nick Castellanos is a bad mother[bleep]

1. Which one of you was worried about his production if he got traded to us because he had to learn a new league and pitchers? 2. I feel like Cox is out there somewhere smiling, telling himself that Nick has proven the point that some trade deadline guys turn it on in a new situation. Of course, he...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Theo punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame the night the Cubs won Game 7. Now, whether someone thinks he should be a Hall of Famer certainly can be a discussion, but he's still already in. It wasn't a debate or discussion anyone was actually having; it was an odd non-sequitur reply to people point...

Re: The Ball is Insanely Juiced

Exactly. I don't necessarily want to increase scoring to the level at Coors Field (I don't hate that idea, but it's not a necessary component) but greatly increasing the number of hits and baserunners would be my goal. Just eliminate the shift. The shift isn't doing much to curb baserunners. BABIP ...

Re: The Ball is Insanely Juiced

Definitely, I wasn't meaning that. I meant as ballparks naturally get built that it would factor into the process. That is obviously a very long-term solution, but within the next 30 years probably 15-20 ballparks will get replaced (that would actually be fewer than the last 30 years, which I would...

Re: Addison Russell

I realize this is a message board so posting messages is what you are supposed to do, but you can't allow Cox to control the conversation in this way. He basically brings up Addison Russell and everyone falls in line by responding with everything we already know. In this particular case, if Cox post...

I feel like they should more than consider it. If the dude sucks twice a week, it won't be any worse than Taylor Davis.

Lucroy incoming now? somebody smarter than me (maybe even KrisBryantisaBeast) let me know: what are the Cubs options if they really wanted the guy? Since July 31 is no longer the "non-waiver" trade deadline and just simply the "deadline" for trades (to my knowledge) - is it simp...

Re: Brad Brach DFA'd

I'm seeing that the Cubs could pay him $5 million next season or buy him out for $100,000. ETA: Mooney said that at season’s end, the Cubs can choose between re-signing him for $5 million or paying a $100,000 buyout. Brach will also have a $1.35 million player option for 2021. So, I guess the $1.35 ...

Not that Brach didn’t deserve to get ignominiously horsefeathers canned, he did, but I’m vaguely upset that he gets blasted into the sun before the most ignoble of terrible players, the one begging for release, figuratively and literally, Daniel DeScalso. Probably because he is still signed for nex...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Even if the Cubs win the division - I think Maddon is toast. Yes, the players have to perform but he’s at the helm. As this season unfolds, the more and more I see the FO going in a different direction. Maddon was gone the second the FO decided not to add on another year to his deal. He's a lame du...

Re: Trade targets 2019

Of the mistakes Theo has made in the past few seasons (and lets be honest, there have been several) deciding not to trade for Verlander - which effectively resulted in the Quintana trade - may be the worst. Perhaps I'm not remembering correctly, but Didn't they request Baez in the deal? Look at who...

Re: Maldonado to Astros for Tony Kemp

I guess also if Tony Kemp is worthy of being on a 25-man roster, there is more value here because he's controlled rather than being a free agent like Maldonado.

We all really need the Cubs to add something bigger, though.
